TL;DR: It is reported that suicide is a highly complex and multifaceted phenomenon in which a large plethora of mechanisms could be variable implicated, particularly amongst MDD subjects and modern psychiatry needs a better interpretation of suicide risk with a more careful assessment of suiciderisk stratification and planning of clinical and treatment interventions.

Differentiating between bipolar and unipolar depression in functional and structural MRI studies

TL;DR: Structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging studies that directly compare UD and BD depression based on neuroimaging modalities including functional MRI studies on regional brain activation or functional connectivity, structural MRI on gray or white matter morphology, and pattern classification analyses using a machine learning approach are reviewed.
