TL;DR: Early life adversity (ELA) has been linked to higher depression risk across the life span and chronic inflammatory conditions that contribute to earlier mortality as discussed by the authors , which is consistent with the hypothesis that ELA may enhance cellular and gene regulatory reactivity to stress.

Cues for health-related imagery in analogue worriers: a brief report.

TL;DR: The role of specific cues for eliciting fearful imagery in a sample of analogue worriers was examined and it was found that disconfirmation of risk for contracting the diseases tended to lessen post-imagery anxiety but only after a series of imagery trials.
