Journal ArticleDOI

A new approach to evaluating the toxicity and genotoxicity of disinfected drinking water.

TL;DR: The pilot drinking water plant under study was useful in studying the toxicity and genotoxicity of disinfected drinking water with this combined chemical/biotoxicological approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

DNA damage induced by copper on erythrocytes of gilthead sea bream Sparus aurata and mollusk Scapharca inaequivalvis.

TL;DR: The data obtained show that the in vivo treatment with 0.1 ppm of copper increased the susceptibility of DNA to be damaged, and the comet assay could represent a useful test to evaluate the biological consequences of environmental contamination by metals on marine organisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary DNA damage in chrome-plating workers

TL;DR: The study confirms that measurements of chromium in erythrocytes and lymphocytes may provide useful information about recent and past exposure to hexavalent chromium at the workplace and suggests this test is valid for the biological monitoring of workers exposed to genotoxic compounds such as chromium (VI).
Journal ArticleDOI

Pyrazolo[4,3-c][1,2]benzothiazines 5,5-Dioxide: A Promising New Class of Staphylococcus aureus NorA Efflux Pump Inhibitors

TL;DR: The EPI activity of the COX-2 inhibitor celecoxib was confirmed and a new class of pyrazolo[4,3-c][1,2]benzothiazine 5,5-dioxide analogues acting as inhibitors of the Staphylococcus aureus NorA multidrug efflux pump was identified.
