Survey of Soil Fungal Communities in Strawberry Fields by Illumina Amplicon Sequencing
Seyed Mahyar Mirmajlessi,Mohammad Bahram,Mohammad Bahram,Marika Mänd,Neda Najdabbasi,Seyed Mojtaba Mansouripour,Evelin Loit +6 more
TL;DR: This study for the first time shows the usefulness of Illumina technology in surveying the communities of soil fungi in strawberry fields effectively, which may improve available disease management strategies against strawberry diseases.
Posted ContentDOI
Long- and short-read metabarcoding technologies reveal similar spatio-temporal structures in fungal communities
TL;DR: A solution that splits the reads into shorter homologous regions prior to denoising, and then reconstructs the full denoised reads is presented, and a hybrid approach using short amplicons for sampling breadth and depth, and long amplicons to characterize the local species pool for improved identification and phylogenetic analyses is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physiological and molecular responses of resistant and susceptible wheat cultivars to Fusarium graminearum mycotoxin extract
Mona Sorahinobar,Hassan Soltanloo,Vahid Niknam,Hassan Ebrahimzadeh,Babak Moradi,Naser Safaie,Mehrdad Behmanesh,Mohammad Bahram,Mohammad Bahram +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a crude culture extract of F. graminearum was used to determine the physiological and molecular responses of wheat cultivars "Falat" and "Sumai3" against Fusarium head blight.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global soil microbiomes: A new frontline of biome‐ecology research
Martti Vasar,John Davison,Siim-Kaarel Sepp,Ladislav Mucina,Jane Oja,Saleh Al-Quraishy,Sten Anslan,Mohammad Bahram,C. Guillermo Bueno,Juan Jose Cantero,Guillaume Decocq,Lauchlan H. Fraser,Inga Hiiesalu,Wael N. Hozzein,Kadri Koorem,Yiming Meng,Mari Moora,Vladimir G. Onipchenko,Maarja Öpik,Meelis Pärtel,Tanel Vahter,Leho Tedersoo,Martin Zobel,Janne Soininen +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used high-throughput sequencing to characterize soil biotic communities and k-means clustering to define soil microbiomes describing the diversity of microbial eukaryotic and prokaryotic groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complex effects of mammalian grazing on extramatrical mycelial biomass in the Scandes forest-tundra ecotone.
Tage Vowles,Frida Lindwall,Alf Ekblad,Mohammad Bahram,Mohammad Bahram,Brendan R. Furneaux,Martin Ryberg,Robert G. Björk +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that herbivory can influence fungal biomass in highly context‐dependent ways in subarctic ecosystems, and the importance of root‐associated fungi for ecosystem carbon balance could have far‐reaching implications.
