Survey of Soil Fungal Communities in Strawberry Fields by Illumina Amplicon Sequencing

TL;DR: This study for the first time shows the usefulness of Illumina technology in surveying the communities of soil fungi in strawberry fields effectively, which may improve available disease management strategies against strawberry diseases.
Posted ContentDOI

Long- and short-read metabarcoding technologies reveal similar spatio-temporal structures in fungal communities

TL;DR: A solution that splits the reads into shorter homologous regions prior to denoising, and then reconstructs the full denoised reads is presented, and a hybrid approach using short amplicons for sampling breadth and depth, and long amplicons to characterize the local species pool for improved identification and phylogenetic analyses is suggested.
Journal ArticleDOI

Global soil microbiomes: A new frontline of biome‐ecology research

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors used high-throughput sequencing to characterize soil biotic communities and k-means clustering to define soil microbiomes describing the diversity of microbial eukaryotic and prokaryotic groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Complex effects of mammalian grazing on extramatrical mycelial biomass in the Scandes forest-tundra ecotone.

TL;DR: It is suggested that herbivory can influence fungal biomass in highly context‐dependent ways in subarctic ecosystems, and the importance of root‐associated fungi for ecosystem carbon balance could have far‐reaching implications.
