TL;DR: Diversity of most fungal groups peaked in tropical ecosystems, but ectomycorrhizal fungi and several fungal classes were most diverse in temperate or boreal ecosystems, and manyfungal groups exhibited distinct preferences for specific edaphic conditions (such as pH, calcium, or phosphorus).
Journal ArticleDOI
New and Interesting Cantharellus from Tropical Africa
André De Kesel,Mario Amalfi,Bill Kasongo Wa Ngoy,Nourou S. Yorou,Olivier Raspé,Jérôme Degreef,Bart Buyck +6 more
TL;DR: First sequences for C. defibulatus, C. rufopunctatus and C. sublaevis are provided, all of which are here epitypified, as well as new sequences for more than a dozen other Cantharellus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping mycological ignorance – checklists and diversity patterns of fungi known for West Africa
Meike Piepenbring,Jose G. Maciá-Vicente,Jean Evans I. Codjia,Carola Glatthorn,Paul M. Kirk,Yalemwork Meswaet,David W. Minter,Boris Armel Olou,Kai Reschke,Marco Schmidt,Nourou S. Yorou +10 more
TL;DR: The present checklist is provided as a tool to facilitate fungal identification in this region and to aid conceptualisation and justification of future research projects.
Journal ArticleDOI
A molecular phylogenetic framework for Anthracocystis (Ustilaginales), including five new combinations (inter alia for the asexual Pseudozyma flocculosa), and description of Anthracocystis grodzinskae sp. nov.
TL;DR: This study provides the first explicit evidence that several asexual species are nested within the Anthracocystis lineage, namely Pseudozyma flocculosa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cantharellus solidus, a New Species from Benin (West-Africa) with a Smooth Hymenium
TL;DR: Cantharellus solidus is a new species from the Guineo-Sudanian part of Benin (West Africa) and is likely close to the C. lateritius-complex and occurs in forest galleries dominated by Berlinia grandiflora and Uapaca togoensis.
