Performance Analysis of Amplify-and-Forward Relaying with Mismatched-Coherent and Partially-Coherent Receivers

TL;DR: This paper investigates the error rate performance of amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying with imperfect channel estimation with extensive Monte Carlo simulations and quantifies the impact of channel estimation through the derivation of pairwise error probability.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

EM-Based Maximum-Likelihood Sequence Detection for MIMO Optical Wireless Systems

TL;DR: An iterative sequence detector based on the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm for IM/DD MIMO OW systems over log-normal atmospheric turbulence channels and results demonstrate that the EM-based algorithm outperforms the symbol-by-symbol decoder and achieves a performance within 0.5 dB of that of the optimal MLSD.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Adaptive power loading for OFDM cooperative networks

TL;DR: This paper investigates power allocation strategies for an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) cooperative network over frequency-selective fading channels and proposes a power loading algorithm to minimize the bit error rate under total transmission power constraint for a given data rate.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Information theoretic analysis and optimization of underwater acoustic communication systems

TL;DR: An expression for underwater channel capacity is derived which is later used to optimize the carrier frequency and input signaling and the effect of several system and environmental parameters such as distance, temperature, depth, etc. on the capacity is demonstrated.

Automatic road detection from orthophoto images

TL;DR: In this study, aerial photographs of a certain area of Afyon Kocatepe University Ahmet Necdet Sezer Campus were obtained by using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and the object-based classification approach was used to automatic detection and classify the roads of the university in the digital environment.
