Recommendations for the management of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in adults
Paul La Rosée,AnnaCarin Horne,Melissa Hines,Tatiana von Bahr Greenwood,Rafał Machowicz,Nancy Berliner,Sebastian Birndt,Juana Gil-Herrera,Michael Girschikofsky,Michael B. Jordan,Ashok Kumar,Jan A M van Laar,Gunnar Lachmann,Kim E. Nichols,Athimalaipet V Ramanan,Yini Wang,Zhao Wang,Gritta Janka,Jan-Inge Henter +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present expert opinions derived from an interdisciplinary working group on adult HLH, sponsored by the Histiocyte Society, to facilitate knowledge transfer between physicians caring for pediatric and adult patients with HLH with the aim to improve the outcome for adult patients affected by HLH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Haploinsufficiency for ribosomal protein genes causes selective activation of p53 in human erythroid progenitor cells
Shilpee Dutt,Anupama Narla,Anupama Narla,Anupama Narla,Katherine Lin,Ann Mullally,Nirmalee Abayasekara,Christine Megerdichian,Frederick H. Wilson,Treeve Currie,Arati Khanna-Gupta,Nancy Berliner,Jeffery L. Kutok,Benjamin L. Ebert,Benjamin L. Ebert +14 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that the erythroid lineage has a low threshold for the induction of p53, providing a basis for the failure of erythropoiesis in the 5q-syndrome, DBA, and perhaps other bone marrow failure syndromes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Childhood Ki-1 lymphoma presenting with skin lesions and peripheral lymphadenopathy
Marshall E. Kadin,D Sako,Nancy Berliner,W Franklin,Bruce A. Woda,Michael J. Borowitz,K Ireland,A Schweid,P Herzog,B Lange +9 more
TL;DR: These studies provide further evidence that some cases previously interpreted as malignant or regressing atypical histiocytosis and some types of HD are actually T cell disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
How I treat hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in the adult patient
Alison M. Schram,Nancy Berliner +1 more
TL;DR: The clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of HLH in adults, well described in the pediatric population, are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Marked hyperferritinemia does not predict for HLH in the adult population
Alison M. Schram,Federico Campigotto,Ann Mullally,Annemarie E. Fogerty,Elena Massarotti,Donna Neuberg,Nancy Berliner +6 more
TL;DR: A retrospective analysis of conditions associated with profoundly elevated ferritin in the adult population suggests that marked hyperferritinemia can be seen in a variety of conditions and is not specific for HLH in adults.
