Journal ArticleDOI
CAR-modified memory-like NK cells exhibit potent responses to NK-resistant lymphomas
Margery Gang,Nancy D. Marin,Pamela Wong,Carly Neal,Lynne Marsala,Mark P. Foster,Timothy Schappe,Wei Meng,Jennifer Tran,Maximilian Schaettler,Marco L. Davila,Feng Gao,Amanda F. Cashen,Nancy L. Bartlett,Neha Mehta-Shah,Brad S. Kahl,Miriam Y. Kim,Matthew L. Cooper,John F. DiPersio,Melissa M. Berrien-Elliott,Todd A. Fehniger +20 more
TL;DR: CAR engineering of ML NK cells enhanced responses against resistant cancers and warrant further investigation, with the potential to broaden ML NK cell recognition against a variety of NK cell-resistant tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulatory T cell frequency and modulation of IFN-gamma and IL-17 in active and latent tuberculosis
Nancy D. Marin,Sara C. París,Viviana Vélez,Carlos del Valle Rojas,Mauricio Rojas,Luis F. García +5 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that during active tuberculosis Tregs inhibit protective Th1 responses, but not the proinflammatory Th17 responses, facilitating mycobacterial replication and tissue damage.
Journal ArticleDOI
IFNγ Response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Risk of Infection and Disease in Household Contacts of Tuberculosis Patients in Colombia
Helena del Corral,Sara C. París,Nancy D. Marin,Diana Marín,Lucelly López,Hanna Marisol Henao,Teresita Martínez,Liliana Villa,Luis F. Barrera,Blanca L. Ortiz,María Elena Heras–Ramírez,Carlos Montes,María C. Oquendo,Lisandra M. Arango,Felipe Riaño,Carlos Aguirre,Alberto Bustamante,John T. Belisle,Karen M. Dobos,Gloria Isabel Mejía,M.R. Giraldo,Patrick J. Brennan,Jaime Robledo,María Patricia Arbeláez,Carlos del Valle Rojas,Luis F. García +25 more
TL;DR: The high tuberculosis incidence amongst children supports administration of chemoprohylaxis to child contacts regardless of BCG vaccination and a significant trend for tuberculosis development amongst high HHC IFNγ producers was observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mycobacterium tuberculosis carrying a rifampicin drug resistance mutation reprograms macrophage metabolism through cell wall lipid changes.
Nicole C Howard,Nancy D. Marin,Mushtaq Ahmed,Bruce A. Rosa,John Martin,Monika Bambouskova,Alexey Sergushichev,Ekaterina Loginicheva,Natalia Kurepina,Javier Rangel-Moreno,Liang Chen,Barry N. Kreiswirth,Robyn S. Klein,Joan-Miquel Balada-Llasat,Jordi B. Torrelles,Gaya K. Amarasinghe,Makedonka Mitreva,Maxim N. Artyomov,Fong-Fu Hsu,Barun Mathema,Shabaana A. Khader +20 more
TL;DR: Using a collection of MDR W-Mtb strains, it is demonstrated that the overexpression of Mtb cell wall lipids, phthiocerol dimycocerosates, bypasses the interleukin 1 receptor, type I (IL-1R1) signalling pathway, thereby altering Mtb surface lipid expression and modulating host macrophage metabolic reprogramming.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional profile of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in latently infected individuals and patients with active TB
TL;DR: The results presented herein suggest the possible use of the evaluation of Th1-type cytokines, such as IFN-γ and/or TNF-α, as a correlate of protection against TB; however, these results need to be validated for other groups.
