Nicholas Cross,Rychard Bouwens,Narciso Benítez,John P. Blakeslee,Felipe Menanteau,Holland C. Ford,Tomotsugu Goto,Bradford P. Holden,André R. Martel,Andrew Zirm,Roderik Overzier,Caryl Gronwall,Nicole Homeier,M. Clampin,George F. Hartig,Garth D. Illingworth,David R. Ardila,F. Bartko,Tom Broadhurst,Robert A. Brown,C. J. Burrows,E. S. Miley,Marc Postman,Marc Postman,Piero Rosati,Marco Sirianni,William B. Sparks,Hien D. Tran,Zlatan Tsvetanov,Richard L. White,Richard L. White,W. Zheng +40 more
TL;DR: This article measured the luminosity function of morphologically selected E/S0 galaxies from z = 05 to 10 using deep high-resolution Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) imaging data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Evolved High-Redshift Galaxies in Deep NICMOS/VLT Images
TL;DR: In this article, a substantial population of high redshift early-type galaxies is detected in very deep UBVRIJHK images towards the HDF-South, all with very red SEDs, implying ages of >2 Gyr for standard passive evolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stellar populations of galaxies in the ALHAMBRA survey up to z ~ 1 - I. MUFFIT: A multi-filter fitting code for stellar population diagnostics

Aguerri,Vicent J. Martínez,A. del Olmo,Jaime Perea,Francisco Prada,Francisco Prada,J. M. Quintana,Nicolas Gruel +40 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new generic code optimized to retrieve the main stellar population parameters of galaxies in photometric multi-filter surveys, and check its reliability and feasibility with real galaxy data from the ALHAMBRA survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of two M 32 twins in Abell 1689
S. Mieske,S. Mieske,Leopoldo Infante,Michael Hilker,G. Hertling,John P. Blakeslee,Narciso Benítez,Holland C. Ford,K. Zekser +8 more
TL;DR: The M 31 satellite galaxy M 32 has long been considered an object of unique properties, being the most extreme example of the very rare compact elliptical galaxy class as mentioned in this paper, and the two M 32 twins had first been detected within photometric search for ultra compact dwarf galaxy (UCDs) candidates in A1689 (Mieske et al. 2004b, AJ, 128, 1529) with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Evolved High-Redshift Galaxies in Deep NICMOS/VLT Impages
TL;DR: In this article, a large number of high-redshift, early-type galaxies are detected in very deep UBVRIJHK images, showing that the major fraction of luminous Hubble sequence galaxies has evolved little since z~2.2.
