Atmospheric heavy metal deposition in Northern Europe 1990
Å. Rühling,Guntis Brumelis,Natalia Goltsova,Kestutis Kvietkus,E. Kubin,Siiri Liiv,Sigurður H. Magnússon,A. Mäkinen,Kim Pilegaard,L. Rasmussen,E. Sander,Eiliv Steinnes +11 more
TL;DR: Atmospheric heavy metal deposition in northern Europe including Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and adjacent areas of Russia, was monitored by moss technique as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Country-specific correlations across Europe between modelled atmospheric cadmium and lead deposition and concentrations in mosses
Harry Harmens,Ilia Ilyin,Gina Mills,Jesús R. Aboal,Renate Alber,Oleg Blum,Mahmut Coskun,L. De Temmerman,J.A. Fernández,Rui Figueira,Marina Frontasyeva,Barbara Godzik,Natalia Goltsova,Zvonka Jeran,Szymon Korzekwa,Eero Kubin,Kestutis Kvietkus,Sébastien Leblond,Siiri Liiv,Sigurður H. Zechmeister +36 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that spatial patterns and temporal trends agree reasonably well between lead and cadmium concentrations in mosses and modelled atmospheric deposition.
Journal ArticleDOI
First thorough identification of factors associated with Cd, Hg and Pb concentrations in mosses sampled in the European Surveys 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005
Marcel Holy,Roland Pesch,Winfried Schröder,Harry Harmens,Ilia Ilyin,Renate Alber,Yuliya Aleksiayenak,Oleg Blum,Mahmut Coskun,Maria Dam,Ludwig De Temmerman,Natalia Fedorets,Rui Figueira,M. Frolova,Marina Frontasyeva,Natalia Goltsova,Laura Gonzalez Miqueo,Krystyna Grodzińska,Zvonka Jeran,Szymon Korzekwa,Miodrag Krmar,Eero Kubin,Kestutis Kvietkus,Martin M. Zechmeister +39 more
TL;DR: Schroder et al. as mentioned in this paper investigated the factors influencing Cd, Hg and Pb concentrations in mosses sampled within the framework of the European Heavy Metals in Mosses Surveys 1990-2005.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecological condition of forests around the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland.
Heikki Haapala,Natalia Goltsova,Raija Seppälä,Satu Huttunen,Juhani Kouki,Jukka Lamppu,Boris Popovichev +6 more
TL;DR: The effects of air pollutants on forests around the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland were studied by measurement of the sulphur and calcium content of pine needles and evaluation of the ecological conditions of pine forests, suggesting that these most sensitive indicators of air pollution are damaged by pollutants from St Petersburg and Narva.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of simultaneous large acidic and alkaline airborne pollutants on forest soil
TL;DR: Due to the neutralizing effect of acidic and basic pollutants, forest damage in the study area was not as serious as might be supposed and complicated pollutant situations must be taken into consideration when pollution-caused environmental protection measures are planned.
