Journal ArticleDOI
Subtypes of mild cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson's disease: evidence from the LANDSCAPE study
Elke Kalbe,Sarah Rehberg,Ines Ann Heber,Martin Kronenbuerger,Jörg B. Schulz,Alexander Storch,Katharina Linse,Christine Schneider,Susanne Gräber,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Daniela Berg,Judith Dams,Monika Balzer-Geldsetzer,Rüdiger Hilker,Carola Oberschmidt,Karsten Witt,Nele Schmidt,Brit Mollenhauer,Claudia Trenkwalder,Annika Spottke,Sandra Roeske,Hans-Ulrich Wittchen,Oliver Riedel,Richard Dodel +23 more
TL;DR: This study with the so far largest number of prospectively recruited patients with PD-MCI indicates that non-amnestic PD-mcI is more frequent than amnestic PD -MCI; executive dysfunctions are the most typical cognitive symptom in PD- MCI; and age, gender and global cognition predict the PD-PCI subtype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive decline in Parkinson's disease: the impact of the motor phenotype on cognition.
Jennifer Wojtala,Ines Ann Heber,Petra Neuser,Julia Heller,Elke Kalbe,Sarah Rehberg,Alexander Storch,Katharina Linse,Christine Schneider,Susanne Gräber,Daniela Berg,Judith Dams,Monika Balzer-Geldsetzer,Rüdiger Hilker-Roggendorf,Carola Oberschmidt,Simon Baudrexel,Karsten Witt,Nele Schmidt,Günther Deuschl,Brit Mollenhauer,Claudia Trenkwalder,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Annika Spottke,Sandra Roeske,Ullrich Wüllner,Hans-Ulrich Wittchen,Oliver Riedel,Richard Dodel,Jörg B. Schulz,Kathrin Reetz +29 more
TL;DR: The three motor phenotypes of PD differ in cognitive performance, showing that cognitive deficits seem to be less severe in tremor-dominant PD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia: A Longitudinal Study (DEMPARK)
Monika Balzer-Geldsetzer,Ana Sofia Costa,Martin Kronenbürger,Jörg B. Schulz,Sandra Röske,Annika Spottke,Ullrich Wüllner,Thomas Klockgether,Alexander Storch,Christine Schneider,Oliver Riedel,Hans-Ulrich Wittchen,Carola Seifried,Rüdiger Hilker,Nele Schmidt,Karsten Witt,Günther Deuschl,Brit Mollenhauer,Claudia Trenkwalder,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Susanne Gräber-Sultan,Daniela Berg,Thomas Gasser,Elke Kalbe,Maren Bodden,Wolfgang H. Oertel,Richard Dodel +26 more
TL;DR: A large cohort of PD patients without cognitive dysfunction, PD patients with MCI, andPD patients with dementia is established, to characterize these patients in a standardized manner, using imaging, genetic and proteomic methods in order to improve the understanding of the course of the PD process and the development of cognitive dysfunction and dementia in this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The olfactory bulb volume in patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease.
Laura Paschen,Nele Schmidt,Stephan Wolff,C. Cnyrim,T. van Eimeren,Kirsten E. Zeuner,Günther Deuschl,Karsten Witt +7 more
TL;DR: This study addresses the question of whether the neuropathological findings on the olfactory bulb in idiopathic Parkinson's disease correspond to a detectable change in volume of the OB.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apolipoprotein E ε4 does not affect cognitive performance in patients with Parkinson's disease.
David Mengel,Judith Dams,Jannis Ziemek,J Becker,Monika Balzer-Geldsetzer,Rüdiger Hilker,Simon Baudrexel,Elke Kalbe,Nele Schmidt,Karsten Witt,Inga Liepelt-Scarfone,Susanne Gräber,Annette Petrelli,Petra Neuser,Claudia Schulte,Katharina Linse,Alexander Storch,Hans-Ulrich Wittchen,Oliver Riedel,Oliver Riedel,Brit Mollenhauer,Jens Ebentheuer,Claudia Trenkwalder,Thomas Klockgether,Annika Spottke,Annika Spottke,Ullrich Wüllner,Jörg B. Schulz,Kathrin Reetz,Ines Ann Heber,Alfredo Ramirez,Richard Dodel +31 more
TL;DR: The data question the relevance of the APOE-ε4 allele as a predictor of cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease.
