Early Last Interglacial ocean warming drove substantial ice mass loss from Antarctica

Chris S. M. Turney, +42 more
TL;DR: A blue-ice record of ice sheet and environmental change from the Weddell Sea Embayment at the periphery of the marine-based West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS), which is underlain by major methane hydrate reserves is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Wetter Arctic Coincident With Hemispheric Warming 8,000 Years Ago

TL;DR: In this paper, a subcentennial-resolution multiproxy lake sediment record from western Greenland sheds light on these mechanisms and provides independent support for predictions of both enhanced local evaporation and increased poleward moisture transport causing wetter Arctic summers in step with global ocean and atmosphere warming.
Journal ArticleDOI

Technical note: The Linked Paleo Data framework – a common tongue for paleoclimatology

TL;DR: A preliminary data standard for paleoclimate data is proposed, general enough to accommodate all the archive and measurement types encountered in a large international collaboration (PAGES 2k), and a vehicle for such structured data is introduced (Linked Paleo Data, or LiPD), leveraging recent advances in knowledge representation.
