Late Quaternary sedimentological and climate changes at Lake Bosumtwi Ghana: New constraints from laminae analysis and radiocarbon age modeling
Timothy M. Shanahan,Timothy M. Shanahan,J. Warren Beck,Jonathan T. Overpeck,Nicholas P. McKay,Jeffrey S. Pigati,Jeffrey S. Pigati,John A. Peck,Christopher A. Scholz,Clifford W. Heil,John W. King +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new sediment age model framework was proposed for the last ~45cal kyr of sedimentation using a combination of high-resolution radiocarbon dating, Bayesian age-depth modeling and lamination counting.
Journal ArticleDOI
Publisher Correction: A global database of Holocene paleotemperature records
Darrell S. Kaufman,Nicholas P. McKay,Cody C. Routson,M. P. Erb,Basil A. S. Davis,Oliver Heiri,Samuel L Jaccard,Jessica E. TL;DR: An amendment to this paper has been published and can be accessed via a link at the top of the paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
geoChronR - an R package to model, analyze, and visualize age-uncertain data
TL;DR: GeoChronR as mentioned in this paper is an open-source R package for propagating age-model uncertainties to subsequent analyses, and visualizing the results, which has received comparatively little attention in the literature.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age models for long lacustrine sediment records using multiple dating approaches – An example from Lake Bosumtwi, Ghana
Timothy M. Shanahan,Timothy M. Shanahan,John A. Peck,Nicholas P. McKay,Clifford W. Heil,John W. King,Steven L. Forman,Dirk L. Hoffmann,David Richards,Jonathan T. Overpeck,Christopher A. Scholz +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a combination of radiocarbon, optically stimulated luminescence and U-series dating and paleomagnetic excursions was used to generate a continuous age-depth relationship.
Journal ArticleDOI
CO2 and fire influence tropical ecosystem stability in response to climate change.
Timothy M. Shanahan,Konrad A Hughen,Nicholas P. McKay,Jonathan T. Overpeck,Christopher A. Scholz,William D. Gosling,Charlotte Miller,Charlotte Miller,John A. Peck,John A. Peck,John W. King,John W. King,Clifford W. Heil,Clifford W. Heil +13 more
TL;DR: It is found that increased aridity between 28–15 kyr B.P. led to the widespread expansion of tropical grasslands, but that frequent fires and low CO2 played a crucial role in stabilizing these ecosystems, even as humidity changed.
