Journal ArticleDOI
Management of severe perioperative bleeding Guidelines from the European Society of Anaesthesiology
Sibylle A. Kozek-Langenecker,Arash Afshari,Pierre Albaladejo,Cesar Aldecoa Alvarez Santullano,Edoardo De Robertis,Daniela Filipescu,Dietmar Fries,Thorsten Haas,Georgina Imberger,Matthias Jacob,Marcus D. Lancé,Juan V. Llau,Susan Mallett,Jens Meier,Niels Rahe-Meyer,Charles Marc Samama,Andrew Smith,Cristina Solomon,Philippe Van der Linden,Anne Wikkelsø,Patrick Wouters,Piet Wyffels +21 more
TL;DR: These guidelines are intended to provide an overview of current knowledge on the subject with an assessment of the quality of the evidence in order to allow anaesthetists throughout Europe to integrate this knowledge into daily patient care wherever possible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of severe perioperative bleeding: guidelines from the European Society of Anaesthesiology: First update 2016.
Sibylle A. Kozek-Langenecker,Aamer B Ahmed,Arash Afshari,Pierre Albaladejo,Cesar Aldecoa,Guidrius Barauskas,Edoardo De Robertis,David Faraoni,Daniela Filipescu,Dietmar Fries,Thorsten Haas,Matthias Jacob,Marcus D. Pitarch,Susan Mallett,Jens Meier,Zsolt Molnár,Niels Rahe-Meyer,Charles Marc Samama,Jakob Stensballe,Philippe Van der Linden,Anne Wikkelsø,Patrick Wouters,Piet Wyffels,Kai Zacharowski +24 more
TL;DR: This update includes revisions to existing recommendations with respect to the wording, or changes in the grade of recommendation, and also the addition of new recommendations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of fibrinogen levels on thromboelastometric variables in the presence of thrombocytopenia.
Thomas Lang,Kai Johanning,Helfried Metzler,Siegfried Piepenbrock,Cristina Solomon,Niels Rahe-Meyer,Kenichi A. Tanaka +6 more
TL;DR: Clot strength increases in a fibrinogen concentration-dependent manner independent of platelet count, when analyzed by ROTEM, suggesting that EXTEM® (extrinsic activation) and FIBTEM may be useful in guiding fibr inogen repletion therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of fibrinogen concentrate as first-line therapy during major aortic replacement surgery: a randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
Niels Rahe-Meyer,Cristina Solomon,Alexander A. Hanke,Dirk S. Schmidt,Dietrich Knoerzer,Gerald Hochleitner,Benny Sørensen,Christian Hagl,Maximilian Pichlmaier +8 more
TL;DR: Hemostatic therapy with fibrinogen concentrate in patients undergoing aortic surgery significantly reduced the transfusion of allogeneic blood products.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bleeding management with fibrinogen concentrate targeting a high-normal plasma fibrinogen level: a pilot study
Niels Rahe-Meyer,Maximilian Pichlmaier,Axel Haverich,Cristina Solomon,Michael Winterhalter,Siegfried Piepenbrock,Kenichi A. Tanaka +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the haemostatic efficacy of fibrinogen concentrate in correcting acquired perioperative deficiency in complex cardiac surgery using FIBTEM.
