Journal ArticleDOI
On the electronic structure and hydrogen evolution reaction activity of platinum group metal-based high-entropy-alloy nanoparticles
Dongshuang Wu,Kohei Kusada,Tomokazu Yamamoto,Takaaki Toriyama,Syo Matsumura,Ibrahima Gueye,Okkyun Seo,Jaemyung Kim,Satoshi Hiroi,Osami Sakata,Shogo Kawaguchi,Yoshiki Kubota,Hiroshi Kitagawa +12 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of high-entropy-alloy (HEA) nanoparticles (NPs) consisting of five platinum group metals (Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt) through a facile one-pot polyol process is reported and the electronic structure of HEA NPs is investigated using hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which shows a broad valence band spectrum without any obvious peaks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficient overall water splitting in acid with anisotropic metal nanosheets
Dongshuang Wu,Kohei Kusada,Satoru Yoshioka,Tomokazu Yamamoto,Takaaki Toriyama,Syo Matsumura,Yanna Chen,Okkyun Seo,Jaemyung Kim,Chulho Song,Satoshi Hiroi,Osami Sakata,Toshiaki Ina,Shogo Kawaguchi,Yoshiki Kubota,Hirokazu Kobayashi,Hiroshi Kitagawa +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a coral-like solid-solution Ru-Ir nanosized-coral (RuIr-NC) is proposed as a long-lived catalyst with high activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Noble-Metal High-Entropy-Alloy Nanoparticles: Atomic-Level Insight into the Electronic Structure.
Dongshuang Wu,Kohei Kusada,Yusuke Nanba,Michihisa Koyama,Tomokazu Yamamoto,Takaaki Toriyama,Syo Matsumura,Okkyun Seo,Ibrahima Gueye,Jaemyung Kim,Loku Singgapulige Rosantha Kumara,Osami Sakata,Shogo Kawaguchi,Yoshiki Kubota,Hiroshi Kitagawa +14 more
TL;DR: The compositional space of high-entropy-alloy nanoparticles (HEA NPs) significantly expands the diversity of the materials library, which requires knowledge of the local electronic structure at an atomic level as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidation of PtNi nanoparticles studied by a scanning X-ray fluorescence microscope with multi-layer Laue lenses.
Hyon Chol Kang,Hanfei Yan,Yong S. Chu,Su Yong Lee,Jungdae Kim,Evgeny Nazaretski,Chan Kim,Okkyun Seo,Do Young Noh,Albert T. Macrander,G. Brian Stephenson,Jörg Maser +11 more
TL;DR: The elemental maps reveal that alloyed PtNi NPs were transformed into Pt/ NiO core-shell NPs by thermal oxidation, and observations indicate that a coalescence of Pt/NiOcore- shell NPs occurred during oxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation between Geometrically Induced Oxygen Octahedral Tilts and Multiferroic Behaviors in BiFeO3 Films
Sung Su Lee,Young-Min Kim,Hyung-Jae Lee,Okkyun Seo,Hu Young Jeong,Qian He,Qian He,Albina Y. Borisevich,Boyoun Kang,Owoong Kwon,Seunghun Kang,Yunseok Kim,Tae Yeong Koo,Jong-Soo Rhyee,Do Young Noh,Beongki Cho,Ji Hui Seo,Jun Hee Lee,Ji Young Jo +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of both lattice distortion and displacement of B atoms are well understood, which leaves a simple question: Can we exclusively control the positions of oxygen atoms in perovskites for functionality manipulation?
