Journal ArticleDOI

Incommensurate versus Commensurate Description of the AxBX3 Hexagonal Perovskite-Type Structure. Sr1.2872NiO3 Incommensurate Composite Compound Example

TL;DR: In this paper, three different refinement strategies are presented: (i) a 3D supercell approximation with a nonharmonic development of the atomic displacement factor, (ii) an original (3+1)D incommensurate composite description with the use of crenel functions, and (iii) a (3 + 1)D commensurate model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atomic Distributions in the γ-Brass Structure of the Cu−Zn System: A Structural and Theoretical Study

TL;DR: In this paper, the crystal structures, atomic distributions, and theoretical electronic structures of five different Cu5-xZn8+x γ-brass compounds were reported with the goal of identifying chemical influences on the observed phase width.
Journal ArticleDOI

Anharmonicity and atomic distribution of SnTe and PbTe thermoelectrics

TL;DR: In this article, the structure and lattice dynamics of thermoelectric materials SnTe and PbTe are investigated with single crystal and powder neutron diffraction, inelastic neutron scattering (INS), and first-principles simulations.
Book ChapterDOI

POWGEN: a third-generation high resolution high-throughput powder diffraction instrument at the Spallation Neutron Source

TL;DR: Powgen as discussed by the authors is a time-of-flight powder diffractometer at a spallation neutron source and may be considered a third-generation design, optimized for both parametric studies of materials under a wide range of conditions (T, P, H, flowing gases, etc) and ab-initio crystal structure determinations of complex solid-state materials with asymmetric unit-cells of the order {approx}1500 {angstrom}{sup 3}.
