Journal ArticleDOI

Ecosystem response of pasture soil communities to fumigation-induced microbial diversity reductions: an examination of the biodiversity-ecosystem function relationship

TL;DR: Although fumigation reduced soil microbial biodiversity, there was evidence to suggest that it selected for organisms with particular physiological characteristics, and specific functional parameters may be a more sensitive indicator of environmental change than general parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Species richness–productivity patterns differ between n-, p-, and k-limited wetlands

TL;DR: Richness of threatened species was higher in P (co)-limited sites than in N-limited sites, suggesting that increased P availabilities in wetlands may be particularly important in causing disappearance of threatenedspecies in western Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation of nitrogen mineralization in the belowground food webs of two winter wheat fields.

TL;DR: In this article, food webs in conventional and integrated farming systems were simulated to estimate the contribution of soil microbes and soil fauna to nitrogen mineralization during the growing season, and found that amoebae and bacterivorous nematodes were the most important contributors to soil mineralization.
