The Primordial Inflation Polarization Explorer (PIPER): optical design

TL;DR: The balloon-borne PIPER instrument as discussed by the authors uses a variable-delay polarization modulator (VPM) as the primary optical element, two off-axis mirrors, a folding flat, and re-imaging optics with offaxis lenses that focus each of the orthogonal linear polarization signals through an analyzer grid and onto two bolometer arrays.
Journal ArticleDOI

The EChO science case

Giovanna Tinetti, +348 more
TL;DR: The EChO (Exoplanet Characterisation Observatory) is a dedicated survey mission for transit and eclipse spectroscopy capable of observing a large and diverse planet sample within its four-year mission lifetime as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A search for the Sunyaev–Zeldovich effect at millimetre wavelengths

TL;DR: The first attempt to detect the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect at a wavelength of 1.15 mm was reported in this paper, where position-dependent offsets were analyzed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Broadband anti-reflective coatings for cosmic microwave background experiments

Andrew Nadolski, +84 more
TL;DR: In this article, a three-layer polytetra uoroethylene-based anti-reflective (AR) coating was developed for the third generation camera, SPT-3G, of the South Pole Telescope (SPT) experiment.
