Factors associated with maternal death from direct pregnancy complications: a UK national case–control study
Manisha Nair,Jennifer J Kurinczuk,Peter Brocklehurst,Susan Sellers,Gwyneth Lewis,Marian Knight +5 more
TL;DR: To investigate the factors associated with maternal death from direct pregnancy complications in the UK, a large number of patients were diagnosed with at least one maternal death-related complication during pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors for progression from severe maternal morbidity to death: a national cohort study.
G. Kayem,Jennifer J Kurinczuk,Gwyneth Lewis,Shona Golightly,Peter Brocklehurst,Marian Knight +5 more
TL;DR: There is a place for action to reverse the rising trends in maternal age at childbirth, and to reduce the burden of obesity in pregnancy, as well as ongoing recognition of the impact of older maternal age on the risks of pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identifying trial recruitment uncertainties using a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership – the PRioRiTy (Prioritising Recruitment in Randomised Trials) study
Patricia Healy,Sandra Galvin,Paula R Williamson,Shaun Treweek,Caroline Whiting,Beccy Maeso,Christopher D. Bray,Peter Brocklehurst,Mary Moloney,Abdel Douiri,Carrol Gamble,Heidi Gardner,Derick Mitchell,Derek Stewart,Joan Jordan,Martin O'Donnell,Mike Clarke,Sue Pavitt,Eleanor Woodford Guegan,Amanda Blatch-Jones,Valerie Smith,Hannah Reay,Declan Devane +22 more
TL;DR: The prioritised questions call for a collective focus on normalising trials as part of clinical care, enhancing communication, addressing barriers, enablers and motivators around participation and exploring greater public involvement in the research process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Subcutaneous fat necrosis after moderate therapeutic hypothermia in neonates
TL;DR: The data suggest that prolonged moderate hypothermia is an actual risk factor for subcutaneous fat necrosis, and physicians need to be aware of this condition as a possible complication in infants treated with moderate Hypothermia after asphyxia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxygen targeting in preterm infants using the Masimo SET Radical pulse oximeter
TL;DR: An artefact affecting the saturation distribution was found to be attributable to the oximeter's internal calibration algorithm, which is likely to influence oxygen targeting and should be considered in the analysis of the oxygen trial results to maximise their generalisability.
