An international, multicentre, prospective, randomised, controlled, unblinded, parallel-group trial of robotic-assisted versus standard laparoscopic surgery for the curative treatment of rectal cancer.
Fiona Collinson,David G. Jayne,Alessio Pigazzi,Charles Tsang,Jennifer M. Barrie,Richard Edlin,Christopher Garbett,Pierre J. Guillou,Ivana Holloway,Helen Howard,Helen Marshall,Christopher McCabe,Sue Pavitt,Phil Quirke,Carly S. Rivers,Julia Brown +15 more
TL;DR: The ROLARR trial is a pragmatic trial aiming to provide a comprehensive evaluation of both robotic-assisted and standard laparoscopic surgery for the curative resection of rectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of vitamin D on cardiac function in patients with chronic HF: the VINDICATE study
Klaus K. Witte,Rowena Byrom,John Gierula,Maria F. Paton,Haqeel A. Jamil,Judith E. Lowry,Richard Gillott,Sally A. Barnes,Hemant Chumun,Lorraine C Kearney,John P Greenwood,Sven Plein,Graham R. Law,Sue Pavitt,Julian H. Barth,Richard M Cubbon,Mark T. Kearney +16 more
TL;DR: One year of 100 μg daily vitamin D3 supplementation does not improve 6-min walk distance but has beneficial effects on LV structure and function in patients on contemporary optimal medical therapy, and it is necessary to determine whether these translate to improvements in outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interventions for the treatment of oral and oropharyngeal cancers: surgical treatment
Alyson Bessell,Anne-Marie Glenny,Susan Furness,Jan E Clarkson,Richard Oliver,David I. Conway,Michaelina Macluskey,Sue Pavitt,Philip Sloan,Helen V Worthington +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared elective supraomohyoid neck dissection (ND) with therapeutic ND in patients with oral cavity cancer and clinically negative neck nodes, but differences in type of surgery and duration of follow-up made meta-analysis inappropriate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnosing osteoporosis by using dental panoramic radiographs: the OSTEODENT project
Hugh Devlin,Keti Karayianni,Anastasia Mitsea,Reinhilde Jacobs,Christina Lindh,Paul F. van der Stelt,Elizabeth Marjanovic,Judith E. Adams,Sue Pavitt,Keith Horner +9 more
TL;DR: Chi-squared automatic interaction detection analysis showed that the cortical porosity was a poorer predictor of osteoporosis than mandibular cortical width and the test is therefore only recommended in triage screening of individuals by using radiographs made for purposes other than osteopsorosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Removable partial dentures: The clinical need for innovation
Stephen D. Campbell,Lyndon F. Cooper,Helen L Craddock,T. Paul Hyde,Brian Nattress,Sue Pavitt,David W. Seymour +6 more
TL;DR: The purpose of this review was to assess the current state of and future need for prosthetics such as RPDs for patients with partial edentulism, highlight areas of weakness, and outline possible solutions to issues that affect patient satisfaction and the use of R PDs.
