Fetomaternal immune cross-talk and its consequences for maternal and offspring's health.
Petra C. Arck,Kurt Hecher +1 more
TL;DR: Intricate pathways occurring at the fetomaternal interface, such as the formation of a functional synapse between invading fetal trophoblast cells and the involvement of various maternal immune cell subsets and epigenetically modified decidual stromal cells have now been identified, create a tolerogenic niche in which the semiallogeneic fetus can develop.
Journal ArticleDOI
A pivotal role for galectin-1 in fetomaternal tolerance
Sandra M. Blois,Juan M. Ilarregui,Mareike Tometten,Mariana Garcia,Arif S. Orsal,Rosalia Cordo-Russo,Marta A. Toscano,Germán A Bianco,Peter Kobelt,Bori Handjiski,Irene Tirado,Irene Tirado,Udo R. Markert,Burghard F. Klapp,Françoise Poirier,Julia Szekeres-Bartho,Gabriel A. Rabinovich,Gabriel A. Rabinovich,Petra C. Arck +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that galectin-1 (Gal-1), an immunoregulatory glycan-binding protein, has a pivotal role in conferring fetomaternal tolerance and is a pivotal regulator of fetom maternal tolerance that has potential therapeutic implications in threatened pregnancies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ) reconsidered: validation and reference values from different clinical and healthy adult samples.
Herbert Fliege,Matthias Rose,Petra C. Arck,Otto B. Walter,Rueya-Daniela Kocalevent,Cora Weber,Burghard F. Klapp +6 more
TL;DR: Findings suggest that three scales represent internal stress reactions, whereas the scale “demands” relates to perceived external stressors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroimmunology of Stress: Skin Takes Center Stage
TL;DR: The "brain-skin connection," which may underlie inflammatory skin diseases triggered or aggravated by stress, is reviewed, and relevant general principles of skin neuroimmunology and neuroendocrinology are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Social support during pregnancy: effects on maternal depressive symptoms, smoking and pregnancy outcome
Sigrid Elsenbruch,Sven Benson,Mirjam Rücke,Matthias Rose,Joachim W. Dudenhausen,M.K. Pincus-Knackstedt,Burghard F. Klapp,Petra C. Arck +7 more
TL;DR: Lack of social support constitutes an important risk factor for maternal well-being during pregnancy and has adverse effects on pregnancy outcomes.
