TNF neutralization in MS - Results of a randomized, placebo-controlled multicenter study
Arnason Bgw.,G Jacobs,M Hanlon,B H Clay,Noronha Abc.,A Auty,B Davis,Avindra Nath,Jean-Pierre Bouchard,C Belanger,F Gosselin,Manon Thibault,Pierre Duquette,P Bourgoin,Rebecca M. DuBois,M. Girard,George C. Ebers,Rice Gpa.,Margaret K. Vandervoort,Gordon S. Francis,L Duncan,Yves Lapierre,M. S. Freedman,S N Christie,Hyman Rabinovitch,David G. Patry,W F Murphy,S Peters,S D McGuiness,T J Murray,Virender Bhan,Charles Maxner,R. A. Van Dorpe,J J Oger,J. Nelson,W. Morrison,N Bogle,S Beall,G Vorobeychick,A V Hiltbrunner,J Bock,W Lesslauer,Li Dkb.,Donald W. Paty,Guojun Zhao,Grp Lmss.,Grp Ubcmsmria. +46 more
TL;DR: Lenercept failed to be beneficial, but insight into the role of TNF in MS exacerbations was gained.
Journal ArticleDOI
A full genome search in multiple sclerosis
George C. Ebers,K Kukay,Dennis E. Bulman,A D Sadovnick,George P.A. Rice,Carol M. Anderson,H. Armstrong,K Cousin,Robert B. Bell,W Hader,Donald W. Paty,S Hashimoto,Joel Oger,Pierre Duquette,Sharon Warren,T. Gray,Paul O'Connor,Avindra Nath,A. Auty,Luanne M. Metz,Gordon S. Francis,J E Paulseth,T J Murray,William Pryse-Phillips,R. F. Nelson,Matthew L. Freedman,Donald G. Brunet,Jean-Pierre Bouchard,David A. Hinds,Neil Risch +29 more
TL;DR: The results support genetic epidemiological evidence that several genes interact epistatically to determine heritable susceptibility in multiple sclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Population-Based Study of Multiple Sclerosis in Twins
George C. Ebers,Dennis E. Bulman,A D Sadovnick,Donald W. Paty,Sharon Warren,Walter Hader,T J Murray,T. P. Seland,Pierre Duquette,T Grey +9 more
TL;DR: To the extent that the difference in concordance rates between monozygotic and dizygotic twins indicates genetic susceptibility, the results of this study show a major genetic component in susceptibility to multiple sclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preferential recruitment of interferon-γ-expressing TH17 cells in multiple sclerosis
Hania Kebir,Igal Ifergan,Jorge I. Alvarez,Monique Bernard,Josée Poirier,Nathalie Arbour,Pierre Duquette,Alexandre Prat,Alexandre Prat +8 more
TL;DR: This study sought to evaluate the frequency of IFN‐γ–expressing TH17 lymphocytes in MS and EAE, and study their recruitment into the central nervous system (CNS).
Journal ArticleDOI
A population‐based study of multiple sclerosis in twins: Update
A D Sadovnick,H. Armstrong,George P.A. Rice,Dennis E. Bulman,L. Hashimoto,D. W. Party,Stanley A. Hashimoto,Sharon Warren,Walter Hader,T. J. Murrary,T. P. Seland,Luanne M. Metz,Robert B. Bell,Pierre Duquette,T. Gray,R. F. Nelson,B. Weinshenkar,D. Brunt,George C. Ebers +18 more
TL;DR: The data interpreted to mean that MS susceptibility is genetically influenced, and a single dominant or even a single recessive gene is unlikely to account for this effect is unlikely, suggests that at least two or more genes are operative.
