Intra Household Resource Allocation And Their Impact On Expenditure Patterns: Comparative Evidence From South Africa And Pakistan

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a three stage least squares procedure that, besides recognising the endogeneity of all the income variables, allows for simultaneity between all income and expenditure equations, and showed that each individual pools the various components of her/his non-labour earnings, and men and women pool their non labour earnings between themselves.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of socioeconomic characteristics on the age at marriage and on total fertility rates in Nepal using a household level data set was examined, and it was shown that an increase in the number of children that have died has a statistically significant effect on total lifetime fertility (the child replacement effect).
