Alex Conley,Julien Guy,Mark Sullivan,Nicolas Regnault,Pierre Astier,C. Balland,S. Basa,R. G. Carlberg,D. Fouchez,D. Hardin,I. M. Hook,D. A. Howell,R. Pain,Nathalie Palanque-Delabrouille,K. Perrett,C. Hudson,Eric Hsiao,T. Kronborg,C. Lidman,A. Mourao,James D. Neill,Saul Perlmutter,P. Ripoche,Nao Suzuki,E. S. Walker +35 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combine high redshift Type Ia supernovae from the first 3 years of the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) with other supernova (SN) samples, primarily at lower redshifts, to form a high-quality joint sample of 472 SNe (123 low-$z, 93 SDSS, 242 SNLS, and 14 {\it Hubble Space Telescope}).

Brent Tully,Wim van Driel,Christine D. Wilson,Todd Burdullis,Billy Mahoney,Nadine Manset +56 more
TL;DR: The Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS) as discussed by the authors uses the 1 deg2 MegaCam instrument on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope to carry out a comprehensive optical imaging survey of the Virgo cluster, from its core to its virial radius.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Dependence of Type Ia Supernova Luminosities on their Host Galaxies
Mark Sullivan,Alex Conley,D. A. Howell,James D. Neill,Pierre Astier,C. Balland,S. Basa,R. G. Carlberg,D. Fouchez,Julien Guy,D. Hardin,I. M. Hook,R. Pain,N. Palanque-Delabrouille,K. Perrett,C. J. Pritchet,Nicolas Regnault,Jeffrey A. Rich,V. Ruhlmann-Kleider,S. Baumont,Eric Hsiao,T. Kronborg,C. Lidman,Saul Perlmutter,E. S. Walker +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS) and other data to show that there is an additional dependence on the global characteristics of their host galaxies: events of the same light-curve shape and colour are, on average, 0.08mag (~4.0sigma) brighter in massive host galaxies (presumably metal-rich) and galaxies with low specific star-formation rates (sSFR).
Journal ArticleDOI
SiFTO: An empirical method for fitting SN Ia light curves
Alex Conley,Mark Sullivan,Mark Sullivan,Eric Hsiao,Julien Guy,Pierre Astier,David D. Balam,C. Balland,Stéphane Basa,R. G. Carlberg,D. Fouchez,D. Hardin,D. A. Howell,I. M. Hook,Reynald Pain,Kathy Perrett,C. J. Pritchet,Nicolas Regnault +17 more
TL;DR: SiFTO as mentioned in this paper uses a generalization of stretch which applies different stretch factors as a function of both the wavelength of the observed filter and the stretch in the rest-frame B band.
