Low folate levels may protect against colorectal cancer. Commentary

TL;DR: A bell-shaped association between plasma folate concentrations and CRC risk and the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) 677C>T and 1298A>C polymorphisms is observed, suggesting a decreased CRC risk in subjects with low folate status.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma Alkylresorcinols, Biomarkers of Whole-Grain Wheat and Rye Intake, and Incidence of Colorectal Cancer

TL;DR: High concentrations of plasma alkylresorcinols were associated with a lower incidence of distal colon cancer but not with overall colorectal cancer, proximal colon cancer, and rectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma folate and total homocysteine levels are associated with the risk of myocardial infarction, independently of each other and of renal function

TL;DR: This study aims to investigate the relationship between plasma folate, vitamin B12 and total homocysteine concentrations, dietary intake of folate and vitamins B12, B6 and B2, and the risk of first acute myocardial infarction.
