Journal ArticleDOI

Common cardiovascular risk factors and in-hospital mortality in 3,894 patients with COVID-19: survival analysis and machine learning-based findings from the multicentre Italian CORIST Study.

TL;DR: Impaired renal function, elevated C-reactive protein and advanced age were major predictors of in-hospital death in a large cohort of unselected patients with COVID-19, admitted to 30 different clinical centres all over Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling vaccination rollouts, SARS-CoV-2 variants and the requirement for non-pharmaceutical interventions in Italy.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combined the SIDARTHE model, which predicts the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infections, with a new data-based model that projects new cases onto casualties and healthcare system costs.
Journal ArticleDOI

gp120 modulates the biology of human hepatic stellate cells: a link between HIV infection and liver fibrogenesis

TL;DR: This study shows that HIV gp120 modulates different aspects of HSC biology, including directional cell movement and expression of proinflammatory cytokines, and identifies a direct pathway possibly linking HIV infection with liver fibrogenesis via envelope proteins.
