Giamarellos-Bourboulis +64 more
TL;DR: The SAVE-MORE trial as discussed by the authors evaluated the efficacy and safety of anakinra, an IL-1α/β inhibitor, in 594 patients with COVID-19 at risk of progressing to respiratory failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnosis of AIDS-related focal brain lesions A decision-making analysis based on clinical and neuroradiologic characteristics combined with polymerase chain reaction assays in CSF
Andrea Antinori,Adriana Ammassari,A. De Luca,Antonella Cingolani,Rita Murri,Giancarlo Scoppettuolo,M. Fortini,Tommaso Tartaglione,L. M. Larocca,Gianfranco Zannoni,Paola Cattani,R. Grillo,Roselli R,Maurizio Iacoangeli,Massimo Scerrati,Luigi Ortona +15 more
TL;DR: PCR amplifications in CSF represent, in most cases, an essential step in the differential diagnosis of AIDS-related FBL, particularly in patients with FBL without mass effect or with mass effect and who are either seronegative or undergoing anti-Toxoplasma prophylaxis.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD4/CD8 ratio normalisation and non-AIDS-related events in individuals with HIV who achieve viral load suppression with antiretroviral therapy: an observational cohort study
Cristina Mussini,Patrizia Lorenzini,Alessandro Cozzi-Lepri,Giuseppe Lapadula,Giulia Marchetti,Emanuele Nicastri,Antonella Cingolani,Miriam Lichtner,Andrea Antinori,Andrea Gori,Antonella d'Arminio Monforte +10 more
TL;DR: High pre-ART CD4 cell counts, a high CD4/CD8 ratio at baseline, and negative cytomegalovirus serological findings were associated with normalisation, while low ratios wereassociated with increased risk of serious events and deaths.
Journal ArticleDOI
Usefulness of monitoring HIV drug resistance and adherence in individuals failing highly active antiretroviral therapy: a randomized study (ARGENTA).
Antonella Cingolani,Andrea Antinori,Maria Gabriella Rizzo,Rita Murri,Adriana Ammassari,Francesco Baldini,Simona Di Giambenedetto,Roberto Cauda,Andrea De Luca +8 more
TL;DR: The virological benefit of genotype-guided treatment decisions in heavily pre-exposed patients was short term, and patients adherence and residual treatment options influenced outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Better response to chemotherapy and prolonged survival in AIDS-related lymphomas responding to highly active antiretroviral therapy.
Andrea Antinori,Antonella Cingolani,Lucia Alba,Adriana Ammassari,Diego Serraino,Bruno Christian Ciancio,Fabrizio Palmieri,Andrea De Luca,Luigi Maria Larocca,Luigi Ruco,Giuseppe Ippolito,Roberto Cauda +11 more
TL;DR: In HIV-infected patients with NHL, response to HAART was strongly associated with a better response to chemotherapy and prolonged survival and in patients with AIDS lymphomas, combining HAART with chemotherapy could be a feasible and effective approach.
