Specific Contribution of Methionine and Choline in Nutritional Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis IMPACT ON MITOCHONDRIAL S-ADENOSYL-l-METHIONINE AND GLUTATHIONE

TL;DR: The depletion of SAM and GSH in mitochondria is an early event in the MCD model of NASH, which is determined by the lack of methionine, and therapy using permeable GSH prodrugs may be of relevance in NASH.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced fatty acid oxidation in adipocytes and macrophages reduces lipid-induced triglyceride accumulation and inflammation.

TL;DR: Enhanced FAO in palmitate-incubated adipocytes and macrophages reduced triglyceride content and inflammation, improved insulin sensitivity in adipocytes, and reduced endoplasmic reticulum stress and ROS damage in Macrophages indicates that enhancingFAO in metabolically relevant cells such as adipocyte andmacrophages may be a promising strategy for the treatment of chronic inflammatory pathologies such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fatty acid metabolism and the basis of brown adipose tissue function

TL;DR: This review highlights the mechanisms of fatty acid uptake, trafficking and oxidation in brown fat thermogenesis and focuses on BAT's morphological and functional characteristics and fatty acid synthesis, storage, oxidation and use as a source of energy.
