Patterns of water and heat flux across a biome gradient from tropical forest to savanna in brazil
Humberto Ribeiro da Rocha,Antonio O. Manzi,Osvaldo M. R. Cabral,Scott D. Miller,Michael L. Goulden,Scott R. Saleska,Natalia Restrepo Coupe,Steven C. Wofsy,Laura S. Borma,Paulo Artaxo,George L. Vourlitis,José de Souza Nogueira,Fernando L. Cardoso,Antonio Donato Nobre,Bart Kruijt,Helber C. Freitas,Celso von Randow,Renata Gonçalves Aguiar,Jair Max Furtunato Maia +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the seasonal patterns of water vapor and sensible heat flux along a tropical biome gradient from forest to savanna were investigated, and the authors found that evaporation rates increased in the dry season, coincident with increased radiation and soil moisture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atmospheric versus vegetation controls of Amazonian tropical rain forest evapotranspiration: Are the wet and seasonally dry rain forests any different?
Marcos Heil Costa,Márcia C. Biajoli,Luciana Sanches,Ana C. M. Malhado,Lucy R. Hutyra,Humberto Ribeiro da Rocha,Renata Gonçalves Aguiar,Alessandro Araújo +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed evapotranspiration data for three wet and two seasonally dry rain forest sites in Amazonia and found that evapOTranspiration in the dry season is higher than that in the wet season.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling the photosynthetically active radiation in South West Amazonia under all sky conditions
Leonardo J. G. Aguiar,Graciela R. Fischer,Richard J. Ladle,Richard J. Ladle,Ana C. M. Malhado,Flavio Justino,Renata Gonçalves Aguiar,José Maria Nogueira da Costa +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and broadband solar irradiance (Rs) was analyzed and three different models of increasing complexity were developed based on information from RSS and clearness index.
Journal ArticleDOI
Variability of carbon and water fluxes following climate extremes over a tropical forest in southwestern Amazonia.
Marcelo Zeri,Leonardo D. A. Sá,Antonio O. Manzi,Alessandro Araújo,Renata Gonçalves Aguiar,Celso von Randow,Gilvan Sampaio,Fernando L. Cardoso,Carlos A. Nobre +8 more
TL;DR: The carbon and water cycles for a southwestern Amazonian forest site were investigated using the longest time series of fluxes of CO2 and water vapor ever reported for this site, found to have a net carbon uptake of ≈5 t C ha−1 year−1, but the effects of the drought of 2005 were still noticed in 2006, when the climate disturbance caused the site to become a net source of carbon to the atmosphere.
Fluxos de massa e energia em uma floresta tropical do sudoeste da Amazônia
Renata Gonçalves Aguiar,Antonio O. Manzi,Nicolau Priante Filho,Leonardo Deane de Abreu Sá,Fernado Luiz Cardoso,Celso von Randow +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the eddy covariance method to measure fluxes of carbon dioxide, sensible heat and latent heat in a tropical forest area in South West Amazon.
