Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Genome Reduction on Bacterial Metabolism and Its Regulation
Eva Yus,Tobias Maier,Konstantinos Michalodimitrakis,Vera van Noort,Takuji Yamada,Wei-Hua Chen,Judith A. H. Wodke,Marc Güell,Sira Martínez,Ronan Bourgeois,Sebastian Kühner,Emanuele Raineri,Ivica Letunic,Olga V. Kalinina,Olga V. Kalinina,Michaela Rode,Richard Herrmann,Ricardo Gutiérrez-Gallego,Robert B. Russell,Anne-Claude Gavin,Peer Bork,Luis Serrano +21 more
TL;DR: This “simple” organism makes extensive use of noncoding RNAs and has exon- and intron-like structure within transcriptional operons that allows complex gene regulation resembling that of eukaryotes, and Reconstruction of a bacterial metabolic network reveals strategies for metabolic control with a genome of reduced size.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galectin-1 Is a Novel Functional Receptor for Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Pancreatic Cancer
Oriol Roda,Elena Ortiz-Zapater,Neus Martínez-Bosch,Ricardo Gutiérrez-Gallego,Miquel Vila-Perelló,Coral Ampurdanés,Hans-Joachim Gabius,Sabine André,David Andreu,Francisco X. Real,Pilar Navarro +10 more
TL;DR: These findings support a new molecular mechanism by which Gal-1 interaction with tPA contributes to PDA progression involving both transformed epithelial cells and tumor fibroblasts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dissecting the energy metabolism in Mycoplasma pneumoniae through genome-scale metabolic modeling.
Judith A. H. Wodke,Judith A. H. Wodke,Judith A. H. Wodke,Jacek Puchałka,Maria Lluch-Senar,Maria Lluch-Senar,Josep Marcos,Josep Marcos,Eva Yus,Eva Yus,Miguel Godinho,Ricardo Gutiérrez-Gallego,Ricardo Gutiérrez-Gallego,Vítor A. P. Martins dos Santos,Luis Serrano,Luis Serrano,Luis Serrano,Edda Klipp,Tobias Maier,Tobias Maier +19 more
TL;DR: The experimentally validated model provides a solid basis for understanding its metabolic regulatory mechanisms and shows that in highly linear networks the prediction of flux distributions for different growth times allows analysis of time‐dependent changes, albeit using a static model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural analysis of the glycosylation of gene-activated erythropoietin (epoetin delta, Dynepo).
TL;DR: The overall sugar profiles of both glycoproteins appeared to be significantly different and could be useful for maintaining pharmaceutical quality control, detecting the misuse of erythropoietin in sports, and establishing new avenues to link glycosylation with biological activity of glycoproteinins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lysyl oxidase-like 2 deaminates lysine 4 in histone H3
Nicolás Herranz,Natàlia Dave,Alba Millanes-Romero,Lluis Morey,Víctor M. Díaz,Víctor A. Lórenz-Fonfría,Ricardo Gutiérrez-Gallego,Célia Jeronimo,Luciano Di Croce,Antonio García de Herreros,Sandra Peiró +10 more
TL;DR: The deamination catalyzed by Lysyl oxidase-like 2 protein (LOXL2) as an unconventional chemical mechanism for H3K4 modification is described and revealed, revealing another H3 modification and providing a different mechanism forH3K 4 modification.
