Lymphocytic Mastitis and Diabetic Mastopathy: A Molecular, Immunophenotypic, and Clinicopathologic Evaluation of 11 Cases
TL;DR: Despite the presence of B-cell–predominant lymphoid infiltrates and lymphoepithelial lesions, lymphocytic mastitis and diabetic mastopathy do not appear to be associated with an increased risk for lymphoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of a new SARS-CoV-2 variant that emerged in Brazil.
Masaki Imai,Peter Halfmann,Seiya Yamayoshi,Kiyoko Iwatsuki-Horimoto,Shiho Chiba,Tokiko Watanabe,Noriko Nakajima,Mutsumi Ito,Makoto Kuroda,Maki Kiso,Tadashi Maemura,Kenta Takahashi,Samantha Loeber,Masato Hatta,Michiko Koga,Hiroyuki Nagai,Shinya Yamamoto,Makoto Saito,Eisuke Adachi,Osamu Akasaka,Morio Nakamura,Ichiro Nakachi,Takayuki Ogura,Rie Baba,Kensuke Fujita,Junichi Ochi,Keiko Mitamura,Hideaki Kato,Hideaki Nakajima,Kazuma Yagi,Shin ichiro Hattori,Kenji Maeda,Tetsuya Suzuki,Yusuke Miyazato,Riccardo Valdez,Carmen Gherasim,Yuri Furusawa,Moe Okuda,Michiko Ujie,Tiago J. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors characterized a P.1 variant isolated in Japan by using Syrian hamsters, a well-established small animal model for the study of SARS-CoV-2 disease (COVID-19).
Journal ArticleDOI
Waldenström Macroglobulinemia Caused by Extranodal Marginal Zone B-Cell Lymphoma A Report of Six Cases
Riccardo Valdez,William G. Finn,Charles W. Ross,Timothy P. Singleton,Joseph A. Tworek,Bertram Schnitzer +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that EMZL/MALT-type can cause Waldenström macroglobulinemia and that the laboratory evaluation of EMZl/Malt-type should include serum protein electrophoresis/immunofixation, and plasma viscosity measurements and urine immunofixations in select cases.
letters-and-commentsDOI
Antibody Response to Omicron BA.4–BA.5 Bivalent Booster
Qian Wang,Anthony D. Bowen,Riccardo Valdez,Carmen Gherasim,Aubree Gordon,Lihong Liu,David D. Ho +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in Performance Characteristics Among Four High-Throughput Assays for the Detection of Antibodies Against SARS-CoV-2 Using a Common Set of Patient Samples.
David M Manthei,Jason F Whalen,Lee F. Schroeder,Anthony M Sinay,Shih-Hon Li,Riccardo Valdez,Donald A. Giacherio,Carmen Gherasim +7 more
TL;DR: The specificity and sensitivity achieved by the Roche and Siemens assays would be acceptable for testing in lower-prevalence regions and have the potential of orthogonal testing advantages if used in combination.
