The remnants of galaxy formation from a panoramic survey of the region around M31
Alan W. McConnachie,Mike Irwin,Rodrigo A. Ibata,John Dubinski,Lawrence M. Widrow,Nicolas F. Martin,Patrick Côté,Aaron Dotter,Julio F. Navarro,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Thomas H. Puzia,Geraint F. Lewis,Arif Babul,Pauline Barmby,Olivier Bienaymé,Scott Chapman,Robert Cockcroft,Michelle L. M. Collins,Mark A. Fardal,William E. Harris,Avon Huxor,A. Dougal Mackey,Jorge Peñarrubia,R. Michael Rich,Harvey B. Richer,Arnaud Siebert,Nial R. Tanvir,David Valls-Gabaud,K. A. Venn +28 more
TL;DR: A panorama of galaxy structure of the Andromeda galaxy (M31) is reported, which directly confirms the basic tenets of the hierarchical galaxy formation model and reveals the shared history of M31 and M33 in the unceasing build-up of galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Globular Cluster Systems in Brightest Cluster Galaxies: A Near-universal Luminosity Function?
William E. Harris,Warren R. Morningstar,Oleg Y. Gnedin,Heather O'Halloran,John P. Blakeslee,Bradley C. Whitmore,Patrick Côté,Douglas Geisler,Eric W. Peng,Jeremy Bailin,Barry Rothberg,Robert Cockcroft,Regina Barber DeGraaff +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first results from the Hubble Space Telescope brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) survey of seven central supergiant cluster galaxies and their globular cluster (GC) systems are presented.

The M33 Globular Cluster System with PAndAS Data: The Last Outer Halo Cluster?
Robert Cockcroft,William E. Harris,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Avon Huxor,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Mike Irwin,Alan W. McConnachie,Kristin A. Woodley,Scott C. Chapman,Geraint F. Lewis,Thomas H. Puzia +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used CFHT/MegaCam data to search for outer halo star clusters in M33 as part of the Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unearthing Foundations of a Cosmic Cathedral: Searching the Stars for M33's Halo
Robert Cockcroft,Alan W. McConnachie,William E. Harris,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Mike Irwin,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Mark A. Fardal,Arif Babul,Scott Chapman,Geraint F. Lewis,Nicolas F. Martin,Thomas H. Puzia +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors use data from the Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey (PAndAS) to search for evidence of an extended halo component belonging to M33 (the Triangulum Galaxy) and identify a population of red giant branch (RGB) stars at large radii from M33's disk whose connection to the recently discovered extended "disk substructure" is ambiguous.
