TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a measurement of the cosmic distance scale from detections of the baryon acoustic oscillations in the clustering of galaxies from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS), which is part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III (SDSS-III).
Journal ArticleDOI

York,Michael W. Richmond,Daniel E. Vanden Berk +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantify the variability of faint unresolved optical sources using a catalog based on multiple SDSS imaging observations, and find that at least 90% of quasars are variable at the 0.03 mag level (rms).
Journal ArticleDOI

Munn,Hugh C. Harris,Michael A. Strauss,Xiaohui Fan,James E. Gunn,Zeljko Ivezic,Donald G. York,J. Brinkmann +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a catalog of 100,563 unresolved, UV-excess (UVX) quasar candidates to g=21 from 2099 deg^2 of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release One (DR1) imaging data.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
