Journal ArticleDOI
The International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection (IRAD): new insights into an old disease.
Peter Hagan,Christoph A. Nienaber,Eric M. Isselbacher,David Bruckman,Dean Karavite,P. Russman,Arturo Evangelista,Rossella Fattori,Toru Suzuki,Jae K. Oh,Andrew G. Moore,Joseph F. Malouf,Linda Pape,Charlene Gaca,Udo Sechtem,Suzanne Lenferink,Hans J. Deutsch,Holger Diedrichs,Jose Marcos y Robles,Alfredo Llovet,Dan Gilon,Sugata Das,William F. Armstrong,G. Michael Deeb,Kim A. Eagle +24 more
TL;DR: The data support the need for continued improvement in prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute aortic dissection and suggest a high clinical index of suspicion is necessary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonsurgical Reconstruction of Thoracic Aortic Dissection by Stent–Graft Placement
Christoph A. Nienaber,Rossella Fattori,Gunnar K. Lund,Christoph Dieckmann,W Wolf,Y von Kodolitsch,V. Nicolas,A Pierangeli +7 more
TL;DR: These preliminary observations suggest that elective, nonsurgical insertion of an endovascular stent-graft is safe and efficacious in selected patients who have thoracic aortic dissection and for whom surgery is indicated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Endovascular Repair of Type B Aortic Dissection Long-Term Results of the Randomized Investigation of Stent Grafts in Aortic Dissection Trial
Christoph A. Nienaber,Stephan Kische,Hervé Rousseau,Holger Eggebrecht,Tim C. Rehders,Guenther Kundt,Aenne Glass,Dierk Scheinert,Martin Czerny,Tilo Kleinfeldt,Burkhart Zipfel,Louis Labrousse,Rossella Fattori,Hüseyin Ince +13 more
TL;DR: In this study of survivors of type B aortic dissection, TEVAR in addition to optimal medical treatment is associated with improved 5-year aorta-specific survival and delayed disease progression and should be considered to improve late outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized Comparison of Strategies for Type B Aortic Dissection The INvestigation of STEnt Grafts in Aortic Dissection (INSTEAD) Trial
Christoph A. Nienaber,Hervé Rousseau,Holger Eggebrecht,Stephan Kische,Rossella Fattori,Tim C. Rehders,Gunther Kundt,Dierk Scheinert,Martin Czerny,Tilo Kleinfeldt,Burkhart Zipfel,Louis Labrousse,Hüseyin Ince +12 more
TL;DR: In the first randomized study on elective stent-graft placement in survivors of uncomplicated type B aortic dissection, TEVAR failed to improve 2-year survival and adverse event rates despite favorable aorti remodeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Survival in Patients Presenting With Type B Acute Aortic Dissection Insights From the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection
Thomas T. Tsai,Rossella Fattori,Santi Trimarchi,Eric M. Isselbacher,Truls Myrmel,Arturo Evangelista,Stuart Hutchison,Udo Sechtem,Jeanna V. Cooper,Dean E. Smith,Linda Pape,James B. Froehlich,Arun Raghupathy,James L. Januzzi,Kim A. Eagle,Christoph A. Nienaber +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used data from a contemporary registry of acute type B aortic dissection to better understand factors associated with adverse long-term survival, and Cox proportional hazards analysis was performed to identify independent predictors of follow-up mortality.
