Journal ArticleDOI

Genomic Analysis of the Nitrate Response Using a Nitrate Reductase-Null Mutant of Arabidopsis

TL;DR: A nitrate reductase (NR)-null mutant of Arabidopsis was constructed that had a deletion of the major NR gene NIA2 and an insertion in the NIA1 NR gene, and there was substantial organ specificity to the nitrate response.
Journal ArticleDOI

Response to Zemojtel et al: Plant nitric oxide synthase: back to square one

TL;DR: It is agreed with the findings presented by Tomasz Zemojtel et al. that AtNOS1 does not show arginine-dependent nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity in vitro as it originally reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nutrient translocation in the xylem of poplar--diurnal variations and spatial distribution along the shoot axis.

TL;DR: In this paper, diurnal variations in the xylem sap composition of poplar (Populus tremula × P. alba) were investigated and it was shown that the relative abundance of the nutrients did not change during the day and during the night, translocation rates were 63-69% lower than the maximum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vegetative Storage Proteins in Poplar Induction and Characterization of a 32- and a 36-Kilodalton Polypeptide

TL;DR: Preliminary data suggest the involvement of the phytochrome system in the induction process of the 32- and 36-kilodalton polypeptides are glycoforms differing only in the extent of glycosylation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrate uptake and nitrate reduction in synchronous Chlorella

TL;DR: It is concluded that the increased nitrate reductase activity after light onset is regulated via nitrate uptake, and evidence for a regulation in this direction is shown by the action of ammonium in terms of the regulation of the nitrate consuming system.
