Journal ArticleDOI

Leptin Directly Activates SF1 Neurons in the VMH, and This Action by Leptin Is Required for Normal Body-Weight Homeostasis

TL;DR: It is shown that leptin depolarizes and increases the firing rate of steroidogenic factor-1 (SF1)-positive neurons in the VMH, and that leptin action at this site plays an important role in reducing body weight and, of note, in resisting diet-induced obesity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mice lacking ghrelin receptors resist the development of diet-induced obesity

TL;DR: It is shown that when fed a high-fat diet, both female and male GHSR-null mice eat less food, store less of their consumed calories, preferentially utilize fat as an energy substrate, and accumulate less body weight and adiposity than control mice, which supports the hypothesis that ghrelin-responsive pathways are an important component of coordinated body weight control.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficacy and safety of a single dose of casirivimab and imdevimab for the prevention of COVID-19 over an 8-month period: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Meagan P. O'Brien, +236 more
TL;DR: This was a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial done in the USA, Romania, and Moldova in 2020–2021, before the emergence of omicron-lineage variants and reduced the risk of COVID-19 by 81·2% (nominal p<0·0001) versus placebo (prespecified analysis).
