Molecular mechanisms for the activity of PX-478, an antitumor inhibitor of the hypoxia-inducible factor-1α

TL;DR: It is concluded that PX-478 inhibits Hif-1α at multiple levels that together or individually may contribute to its antitumor activity against HIF-1 α-expressing tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI

The selective hypoxia inducible factor-1 inhibitor PX-478 provides in vivo radiosensitization through tumor stromal effects.

TL;DR: It is shown that PX-478 prevents postradiation HIF-1 signaling and abrogates downstream stromal adaptation in C6 and HN5 reporter xenografts as measured by serial ultrasound, vascular magnetic resonance imaging, and hypoxia response element–specific micro–positron emission tomography imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

IL-24 is Expressed During Wound Repair and Inhibits TGFα induced Migration and Proliferation of Keratinocytes

TL;DR: In conclusion, IL‐24 is expressed during wound repair and inhibits TGFα ‐induced migration and proliferation of keratinocytes in mice and successfully reprograms these cells for wound repair.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of Thioredoxin-Interacting Protein 1 as a Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1α-Induced Gene in Pancreatic Cancer

TL;DR: Thioredoxin-interacting protein, a putative tumor suppressor gene, is induced in response to hypoxia in a HIF-1&agr;-dependent manner in pancreatic cancer cells, resulting in increased apoptosis and increased sensitivity to platinum anticancer therapy.
