Resonantly hybridized excitons in moiré superlattices in van der Waals heterostructures
Evgeny M. Alexeev,David A. Ruiz-Tijerina,David A. Ruiz-Tijerina,Mark Danovich,Matthew J. Hamer,Daniel J. Terry,Pramoda K. Nayak,Pramoda K. Nayak,Seongjoon Ahn,Sangyeon Pak,Juwon Lee,Jung Inn Sohn,Jung Inn Sohn,Maciej R. Molas,Maciej R. Molas,Maciej Koperski,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Kostya S. Novoselov,Roman V. Gorbachev,Roman V. Gorbachev,Hyeon Suk Shin,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Alexander I. Tartakovskii +24 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that excitonic bands in MoSe2/WS2 heterostructures can hybridize, resulting in a resonant enhancement of moiré superlattice effects, which underpin strategies for band-structure engineering in semiconductor devices based on van der Waals heterostructure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resonantly hybridised excitons in moir\'e superlattices in van der Waals heterostructures
Evgeny M. Alexeev,David A. Ruiz-Tijerina,Mark Danovich,Matthew J. Hamer,Daniel J. Terry,Pramoda K. Nayak,Seongjoon Ahn,Sangyeon Pak,Juwon Lee,Jung Inn Sohn,Maciej R. Molas,Maciej Koperski,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Kostya S. Novoselov,Roman V. Gorbachev,Hyeon Suk Shin,Vladimir I. Fal'ko,Alexander I. Tartakovskii +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that in semiconducting heterostructures built of incommensurate MoSe2 and WS2 monolayers, excitonic bands can hybridise, resulting in the resonant enhancement of the moire superlattice effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monolayer optical memory cells based on artificial trap-mediated charge storage and release.
Juwon Lee,Sangyeon Pak,Young-Woo Lee,Yuljae Cho,John Hong,Paul Giraud,Hyeon Suk Shin,Stephen M. Morris,Jung Inn Sohn,SeungNam Cha,Jong Min Kim +10 more
TL;DR: These monolayer MoS2 optoelectronic memory devices exhibit excellent photo-responsive memory characteristics with a large linear dynamic range, coupled with a low OFF-state current (<4 pA), and a long storage lifetime of over 104 s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strain-Mediated Interlayer Coupling Effects on the Excitonic Behaviors in an Epitaxially Grown MoS2/WS2 van der Waals Heterobilayer
Sangyeon Pak,Juwon Lee,Young-Woo Lee,A-Rang Jang,A-Rang Jang,Seongjoon Ahn,Kyung Yeol Ma,Yuljae Cho,John Hong,Sanghyo Lee,Hu Young Jeong,Hyunsik Im,Hyeon Suk Shin,Stephen M. Morris,SeungNam Cha,Jung Inn Sohn,Jong Min Kim +16 more
TL;DR: It is found that the strain-modulated interlayer coupling directly affects the characteristic combined vibrational and excitonic properties of each monolayer in the heterobilayer, which presents an important pathway toward designing heterostructures and flexible devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
2D Metal Zn Nanostructure Electrodes for High‐Performance Zn Ion Supercapacitors
TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchically nanostructured 2D Zn metal electrode-ion supercapacitor (ZIC) is reported which significantly enhances the ion diffusion ability and overall energy storage performance.
