Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of pinhole defect on vibrational characteristics of single walled carbon nanotube

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of pinhole defects on the dynamic characteristics of carbon nanotubes is investigated using continuum mechanics and the molecular structural mechanics approach, and the shift of the principal frequency of the nanotube with number of pinholes on the length is observed and analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of elastic effects on the performance of slot-entry journal bearings

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of slot-entry hydrostatic/hybrid journal bearings was analyzed by considering bearing shell flexibility in the analysis of fluid film thickness and the relevant governing equations have been solved by the finite element method, and the study indicates that, for given operating conditions, to get optimum performance of a bearing proper selection of the bearing flexibility parameter (C d ), the concentric design pressure ratio ( β ∗ ) and the type of bearing configuration (symmetric/asymmetric) are essential.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study on MR fluid hybrid hole-entry spherical journal bearing with micro-grooves

TL;DR: In this paper, the non-linear behavior of magneto-rheological fluid on performance of micro-grooved hole-entry hybrid spherical journal bearing system is examined. And numerically simulated results indicate that use of microgrooves and magneto rheological fluids improves the value of minimum fluid film thickness and stability of bearing system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of geometrical irregularities on the performance of a misaligned hybrid journal bearing compensated with membrane restrictor

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of geometric irregularities on the performance of membrane compensated four pocket journal bearing under misaligned conditions is examined and the unknown fluid film pressure field in governing Reynolds equation is obtained by FE analysis using Gallerkin's technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study of two lobe non recessed worn journal bearing operating with non-Newtonian lubricant:

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of non-linear behavior of the lubricant on the performance of an orifice compensated two lobe non recessed worn hybrid journal was investigated, and the authors investigated theoretically the effect on the orifice compensation performance.
