NF-κB is a target of AKT in anti-apoptotic PDGF signalling

TL;DR: A role for NF-κB in growth factor signalling is established and an anti-apoptotic Ras/PI(3)K/Akt/IKK/NF-κBs pathway is defined, thus linking anti-APoptotic signalling with transcription machinery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human Catechol-O-Methyltransferase Haplotypes Modulate Protein Expression by Altering mRNA Secondary Structure

TL;DR: The major COMT haplotypes varied with respect to messenger RNA local stem-loop structures, such that the most stable structure was associated with the lowest protein levels and enzymatic activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

NF-κB activation provides the potential link between inflammation and hyperplasia in the arthritic joint

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in vitro, NF-kappaB controlled expression of numerous inflammatory molecules in synoviocytes and protected cells against tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha) and Fas ligand (FasL) cytotoxicity, and indicated that the activation of NF- kappaB protected the cells in the synovium against apoptosis and provided the potential link between inflammation and hyperplasia.
Journal ArticleDOI

NF-κB as a therapeutic target in chronic inflammation: recent advances

TL;DR: The role of NF-κB in chronic inflammation was discussed in this paper, where the authors discussed the feasibility of therapeutic approaches based on specific suppression of the nuclear factor κB pathway.
