Kinetics of reductive denitrification by nanoscale zero-valent iron.

TL;DR: Kinetics analysis from batch studies revealed that the denitrification reaction with nanoscale Fe0 appeared to be a pseudo first-order with respect to substrate and the observed reaction rate constant varied with iron content at a relatively low degree of application, suggesting that theDenitrification appears to be coupled with oxidative dissolution of iron through a largely mass transport-limited surface reaction (<40 rpm).
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrate reduction by zero-valent iron under different pH regimes

TL;DR: In this paper, the reduction of NO3−, by Fe0, was carried out using Fe0 powder in unbuffered solutions from pH 2 to greater than 10, where the initial pH of the solution was adjusted to 2, 3, or 4 by addition of HCl, H2SO4, or CH3COOH.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid reductive destruction of hazardous organic compounds by nanoscale Fe0.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the rapid reductive destruction by nanoscale Fe0 is potentially a viable in situ or aboveground treatment of groundwater contaminated with hazardous organic compounds including COCs and NACs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dechlorination of atrazine using zero-valent iron (Fe0) under neutral pH conditions.

TL;DR: In this research, the dechlorination constants of atrazine by Fe0 were measured with the addition of buffer solution to simulate the buffer capacity of sediment and found that acid addition may not be omitted to obtain acidic pH conditions when de chlorination is necessary in geologic materials.
