ABCG1 and HDL protect against endothelial dysfunction in mice fed a high-cholesterol diet

TL;DR: The data suggest that ABCG1 and HDL maintain EC function in HCD-fed mice by promoting efflux of cholesterol and 7-oxysterols and preserving active eNOS dimer levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

PPARγ-induced cardiolipotoxicity in mice is ameliorated by PPARα deficiency despite increases in fatty acid oxidation

TL;DR: In this paper, mice with dilated Cardiomyopathy due to cardiomyocyte PPARγ overexpression were crossed with PPARα-deficient mice, and the cross led to enhanced expression of several PPAR-regulated genes that mediate fatty acid uptake/oxidation and triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diabetes Induces Endothelial Dysfunction but Does Not Increase Neointimal Formation in High-Fat Diet Fed C57BL/6J Mice

TL;DR: It is suggested that additional diabetes associated parameters (such as hyperlipidemia and atherosclerotic vascular disease) may need to be present to increase neointimal formation in this model of diet induced obesity/diabetes.
