Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of moiré excitons in WSe2/WS2 heterostructure superlattices.
Chenhao Jin,Emma C. Regan,Aiming Yan,Aiming Yan,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,Danqing Wang,Sihan Zhao,Ying Qin,Sijie Yang,Zhiren Zheng,Shenyang Shi,Shenyang Shi,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Sefaattin Tongay,Alex Zettl,Alex Zettl,Feng Wang,Feng Wang +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reported the observation of multiple emergent peaks around the original WSe2 A exciton resonance in the absorption spectra, and they exhibit gate dependences that are distinct from that of the A excitons in WSe 2/WS 2 heterostructures with large twist angles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical detection of Mott and generalized Wigner crystal states in WSe2/WS2 moiré superlattices
Emma C. Regan,Danqing Wang,Chenhao Jin,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,Beini Gao,Xin Wei,Sihan Zhao,Wenyu Zhao,Kentaro Yumigeta,Mark Blei,Johan Carlstroem,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Sefaattin Tongay,Michael F. Crommie,Alex Zettl,Feng Wang +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the optical detection of strongly correlated phases in semiconducting WSe2/WS2 moire superlattices is presented, revealing a Mott insulator state at one hole per super-lattice site and surprising insulating phases at fractional filling factors of 1/3 and 2/3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mott and generalized Wigner crystal states in WSe2/WS2 moiré superlattices.
Emma C. Regan,Emma C. Regan,Danqing Wang,Danqing Wang,Chenhao Jin,Chenhao Jin,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,Beini Gao,Beini Gao,Xin Wei,Xin Wei,Sihan Zhao,Wenyu Zhao,Zuocheng Zhang,Kentaro Yumigeta,Mark Blei,Johan D. Carlström,Johan D. Carlström,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Sefaattin Tongay,Michael F. Crommie,Michael F. Crommie,Alex Zettl,Alex Zettl,Feng Wang,Feng Wang +27 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a sensitive optical detection technique and revealed a Mott insulator state at one hole per superlattice site and surprising insulating phases at 1/3 and 2/3 filling of the super-attice, which they assign to generalized Wigner crystallization on the underlying lattice.
Journal ArticleDOI
A dielectric-defined lateral heterojunction in a monolayer semiconductor
M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,Hans Kleemann,Hans Kleemann,Wenyu Zhao,Chin Shen Ong,Chin Shen Ong,Felipe H. da Jornada,Felipe H. da Jornada,Diana Y. Qiu,Diana Y. Qiu,Hui Cai,Han Li,Rai Kou,Sihan Zhao,Sheng Wang,Sheng Wang,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Sefaattin Tongay,Alex Zettl,Alex Zettl,Steven G. Louie,Steven G. Louie,Feng Wang,Feng Wang +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the dielectric-dependent electronic bandgap can be used to engineer a lateral heterojunction within a homogeneous molybdenum disulfide monolayer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visualization of the flat electronic band in twisted bilayer graphene near the magic angle twist
M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,M. Iqbal Bakti Utama,Roland J. Koch,Kyunghoon Lee,Kyunghoon Lee,Nicolas Leconte,Hongyuan Li,Sihan Zhao,Lili Jiang,Jiayi Zhu,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Paul D. Ashby,Alexander Weber-Bargioni,Alex Zettl,Alex Zettl,Chris Jozwiak,Jeil Jung,Eli Rotenberg,Aaron Bostwick,Feng Wang,Feng Wang +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the flat electronic bands associated with ordered phases in twisted bilayer graphene at a magic twist angle have been imaged using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with nanoscale resolution.
