Journal ArticleDOI
Hypothalamic tanycytes are an ERK-gated conduit for leptin into the brain.
Eglantine Balland,Julie Dam,Fanny Langlet,Emilie Caron,Sophie M. Steculorum,Andrea Messina,Sowmyalakshmi Rasika,Anthony Falluel-Morel,Youssef Anouar,Bénédicte Dehouck,Eric Trinquet,Ralf Jockers,Sebastien G. Bouret,Sebastien G. Bouret,Vincent Prevot +14 more
TL;DR: Triggering ERK signaling in tanycytes with EGF reestablishes leptin transport, elicits MBH neuron activation and energy expenditure in obese animals, and accelerates the restoration of leptin sensitivity upon the return to a normal-fat diet.
Journal ArticleDOI
A microRNA switch regulates the rise in hypothalamic GnRH production before puberty
Andrea Messina,Andrea Messina,Andrea Messina,Fanny Langlet,Fanny Langlet,Fanny Langlet,Konstantina Chachlaki,Konstantina Chachlaki,Juan Carlos Roa,Juan Carlos Roa,Sowmyalakshmi Rasika,Nathalie Jouy,Nathalie Jouy,Sarah Gallet,Sarah Gallet,Francisco Gaytan,Francisco Gaytan,Jyoti Parkash,Jyoti Parkash,Jyoti Parkash,Manuel Tena-Sempere,Manuel Tena-Sempere,Paolo Giacobini,Paolo Giacobini,Vincent Prevot,Vincent Prevot +25 more
TL;DR: It is reported that a multilayered microRNA-operated switch with built-in feedback governs increased GnRH expression during the infantile-to-juvenile transition and that impairing microRNA synthesis in GnRH neurons leads to hypogonadotropic hypog onadotropicism and infertility in mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of the neurons controlling fertility in humans: new insights from 3D imaging and transparent fetal brains.
Filippo Casoni,Filippo Casoni,Samuel A. Malone,Samuel A. Malone,Morgane Belle,Federico Luzzati,Francis Collier,Cecile Allet,Cecile Allet,Erik Hrabovszky,Sowmyalakshmi Rasika,Vincent Prevot,Vincent Prevot,Alain Chédotal,Paolo Giacobini,Paolo Giacobini +15 more
TL;DR: Tissue-clearing and imaging of intact human embryos reveals previously unprecedented GnRH neuron target sites and routes of migration into the brain, revealing not only that the number of GnRH-immunoreactive neurons in humans is significantly higher than previously thought, but that GnRH cells migrate into several extrahypothalamic brain regions in addition to the hypothalamus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hippocampal Radial Glial Subtypes and Their Neurogenic Potential in Human Fetuses and Healthy and Alzheimer's Disease Adults.
Sara Cipriani,Isidre Ferrer,Eleonora Aronica,Gabor G. Kovacs,Catherine Verney,Jeannette Nardelli,Suonavy Khung,Anne-Lise Delezoide,Ivan Milenkovic,Sowmyalakshmi Rasika,Philippe Manivet,Jean-Louis Benifla,Nicolas Deriot,Pierre Gressens,Pierre Gressens,Homa Adle-Biassette +15 more
TL;DR: Pools of morphologically, antigenically, and topographically diverse neural progenitor cells are present in the human hippocampus from early developmental stages until adulthood, including in AD patients, while their neurogenic potential seems negligible in the adult.
Journal ArticleDOI
Golgi trafficking defects in postnatal microcephaly: The evidence for "Golgipathies".
Sandrine Passemard,Franck Perez,Emilie Colin-Lemesre,Sowmyalakshmi Rasika,Pierre Gressens,Pierre Gressens,Vincent El Ghouzzi +6 more
TL;DR: The key roles of the Golgi apparatus in post‐mitotic neurons and the oligodendrocytes that myelinate them are reviewed, and an overview of these Golgi‐associated POM‐causing genes, their function in Golgi organization and trafficking and the likely mechanisms that may link dysfunctions in RAB‐dependent regulatory pathways with POM are provided.
