Proton stopping power measurements using high intensity short pulse lasers produced proton beams

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new method of making stopping power measurements using a different source, namely proton beams created by high intensity short pulse lasers, which is ideal for measurements of evolving mediums such as hot dense plasmas.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

HiPER target studies: towards the design of high gain, robust, scalable direct-drive targets with advanced ignition schemes

TL;DR: HiPER WP9 investigated irradiation schemes, target symmetry and stability issues, sensitivity to parameter changes, requirements for beam delivery and focusing and target positioning, and designing targets for full scale demonstration.
Journal ArticleDOI

ADiffusive model for α-particle energy transport in a laser plasma

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that, if the plasma temperature is ≤ 30 keV, the problem of α-particle energy transport reduces, in good approximation, to the solution of a single diffusive equation for the kinetic energy density of the αparticles.
