The predictive value of ICD-10 diagnostic coding used to assess Charlson comorbidity index conditions in the population-based Danish National Registry of Patients
Sandra Kruchov Thygesen,Christian Fynbo Christiansen,Steffen Christensen,Timothy L. Lash,Timothy L. Lash,Henrik Toft Sørensen,Henrik Toft Sørensen +6 more
TL;DR: The PPV of NRP coding of the Charlson conditions was consistently high and ranged from 82.0% (95% CI; 68.6%, 91.6%) for diabetes with diabetic complications to 100% (one-sided 97.9%, 100%) for congestive heart failure.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, targeted temperature management is recommended for patients after cardiac arrest, but the supporting evidence is of low certainty, and an open-label trial with blinded asymptotics was conducted.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of frailty on ICU and 30-day mortality and the level of care in very elderly patients (≥ 80 years)
Hans Flaatten,Hans Flaatten,Dylan W. de Lange,Alessandro Morandi,Finn H. Andersen,Antonio Artigas,Guido Bertolini,Ariane Boumendil,Maurizio Cecconi,Steffen Christensen,Loredana Faraldi,Jesper Fjølner,Christian Jung,Brian Marsh,Rui Moreno,Sandra Oeyen,Christina Agwald Öhman,Bernardo Bollen Pinto,Ivo W. Soliman,Wojciech Szczeklik,Andreas Valentin,Ximena Watson,Tilemachos Zaferidis,Bertrand Guidet,Bertrand Guidet +24 more
TL;DR: Among very old patients (≥ 80 years) admitted to the ICU, the consecutive classes in Clinical Frailty Scale were inversely associated with short-term survival, providing support to add frailty to the clinical assessment in this patient group.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thomsen +21 more
TL;DR: Characteristics and predictors of hospitalization and death in a nationwide cohort of all Danish individuals tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) from 27 February 2020 until 19 May 2020 were examined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of bisphosphonates among women and risk of atrial fibrillation and flutter: population based case-control study
Henrik Toft Sørensen,Steffen Christensen,Frank Mehnert,Lars Pedersen,Roland Chapurlat,Steven R. Cummings,John A. Baron +6 more
TL;DR: No evidence was found that use of bisphosphonates for osteoporosis increases the risk of atrial fibrillation and flutter, and the relative risk estimates were independent of number of prescriptions and the position of the atrial gynaecological diagnosis in the discharge record, and were similar for inpatients and outpatients.
