Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and Characterization of Two Novel Truncated but Functional Isoforms of the Somatostatin Receptor Subtype 5 Differentially Present in Pituitary Tumors
Mario Durán-Prado,Manuel D. Gahete,Antonio J. Martínez-Fuentes,Raúl M. Luque,Ana Quintero,Susan M. Webb,Pedro Benito-López,Alfonso Leal,Stefan Schulz,Francisco Gracia-Navarro,María M. Malagón,Justo P. Castaño +11 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate the existence of two previously unidentified sst5 spliced variants with distinct distribution in normal tissues and pituitary tumors, unique ligand-selective signaling properties, and subcellular distribution, which could contribute to somatostatin and cortistatin signaling in normal and tumoral cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human growth hormone replacement in adult hypopituitary patients: long-term effects on body composition and lipid status--3-year results from the HypoCCS Database.
Andrea F. Attanasio,Peter C Bates,Ken K. Y. Ho,Susan M. Webb,Richard J. Ross,Christian J. Strasburger,Roger Bouillon,Brenda J. Crowe,Keith Selander,Domenico Valle,Steven W. J. Lamberts +10 more
TL;DR: Observational data showed significant long-term efficacy of adult GH replacement therapy on body composition and lipid profiles and indicate that age is an important predictor of response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-Term Improvement of Quality of Life During Growth Hormone (GH) Replacement Therapy in Adults with GH Deficiency, as Measured by Questions on Life Satisfaction-Hypopituitarism (QLS-H)
Myriam Rosilio,Werner F. Blum,David J. Edwards,Elena P. Shavrikova,Domenico Valle,Steven W. J. Lamberts,Eva Marie Erfurth,Susan M. Webb,Richard J. Ross,Kazuo Chihara,Gerhard Henrich,Peter Herschbach,Andrea F. Attanasio +12 more
TL;DR: Improvements in QoL, as measured by the QLS-H, are maintained during long-term GH replacement therapy of adults with GHD, and the Q LS-H is a useful tool for evaluatingQoL in hypopituitary patients treated in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of melatonin in health and disease
TL;DR: In this review, the evidence pointing towards an undeniable role of melatonin in certain clinical instances will be presented and discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acromegaly Quality of Life Questionnaire (AcroQoL)
TL;DR: The results showed a statistically significant relationship between all the dimensions of AcroQoL and the VAS (visual analogic scale) of EQ-5D and the evaluation of the item parameters confirmed the construct validity of the new instrument.
