Journal ArticleDOI
Adiposity, Dysmetabolic Traits and Earlier Onset of Female Puberty in Adolescent Offspring of Women With Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A Clinical Study Within the Danish National Birth Cohort
Louise G. Grunnet,Susanne Hansen,Line Hjort,Camilla Møller Madsen,Freja Bach Kampmann,Anne Cathrine B. Thuesen,Charlotta Granstrømi,Marin Strøm,Ekaterina Maslova,Ruth Frikke-Schmidt,Peter Damm,Jorge E. Chavarro,Frank B. Hu,Sjurdur F. Olsen,Allan Vaag +14 more
TL;DR: Adolescent offspring of women with GDM show increased adiposity, an adverse cardiometabolic profile, and earlier onset of puberty among girls, which may be explained by the programming effects of hyperglycemia in pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fish oil supplementation during pregnancy and allergic respiratory disease in the adult offspring
Susanne Hansen,Marin Strøm,Ekaterina Maslova,Ronald Dahl,Hans Jürgen Hoffmann,Dorte Rytter,Bodil Hammer Bech,Tine Brink Henriksen,Charlotta Granström,Thorhallur I. Halldorsson,Jorge E. Chavarro,Allan Linneberg,Sjurdur F. Olsen +12 more
TL;DR: Maternal supplementation with fish oil might have prophylactic potential for long‐term prevention of asthma in offspring in a randomized controlled trial from 1990 with 24 years of follow‐up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth and obesity through the first 7 y of life in association with levels of maternal glycemia during pregnancy: a prospective cohort study
Yeyi Zhu,Sjurdur F. Olsen,Pauline Mendola,Edwina Yeung,Allan Vaag,Katherine Bowers,Aiyi Liu,Wei Bao,Shanshan Li,Camilla Møller Madsen,Louise G. Grunnet,Charlotta Granström,Susanne Hansen,Kelly Martin,Jorge E. Chavarro,Frank B. Hu,Jens Langhoff-Roos,Peter Damm,Cuilin Zhang +18 more
TL;DR: Among women with gestational diabetes mellitus, maternal FPG concentrations during pregnancy were significantly and positively associated with offspring birth size and overweight/obesity risk at 7 y, adjusting for maternal prepregnancy BMI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent organic pollutants measured in maternal serum and offspring neurodevelopmental outcomes--a prospective study with long-term follow-up
Marin Strøm,Susanne Hansen,Sjúrður Fróði Olsen,Sjúrður Fróði Olsen,Line Småstuen Haug,Panu Rantakokko,Hannu Kiviranta,Thorhallur I. Halldorsson,Thorhallur I. Halldorsson +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of biomarkers from a cohort of over 800 pregnant women with long-term close to complete follow-up through national registries showed little evidence of a programming effect of PFOA, PFOS, PCBs, p,p'-DDE, and HCB in relation to clinically and functionally relevant offspring neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maternal intake of vitamins A, E and K in pregnancy and child allergic disease: a longitudinal study from the Danish National Birth Cohort.
TL;DR: Maternal vitamin K intake during pregnancy may increase the risk of child asthma, and should be explored further on a mechanistic level; Conversely, maternal vitamin A and E intake may protect against child allergic rhinitis.
