Journal ArticleDOI
High incidence of sensitization to ornamental plants in allergic rhinitis
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the relationship between owning indoor ornamental plants with the risk to be sensitized in atopic rhinitis and found that 78% of the patients with atopic RS had positive skin prick tests to at least one plant, the most frequent sensitization being Ficus benjamina, yucca, ivy and palm tree.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alkaline, protein, low-fat and low-acid diet in laryngopharyngeal reflux disease: Our experience on 65 patients
Jerome R. Lechien,Kathy Huet,Mohamad Khalife,Lisa G. De Marrez,Camille Finck,Bernard Harmegnies,Sven Saussez,Sven Saussez +7 more
TL;DR: The respect of diet and lifestyle modifications could be associated with better improvement of laryngopharyngeal symptoms, perceptual dysphonia, and acoustic measurements and could be explained by many physiological effects on esophageal sphincter tonicity, acid and pepsin productions, and gastric emptying time.
Journal ArticleDOI
The management of suspected or confirmed laryngopharyngeal reflux patients with recalcitrant symptoms: A contemporary review
Jerome R. Lechien,Vinciane Muls,Giovanni Dapri,Francois Mouawad,Pierre Eisendrath,Antonio Schindler,Andrea Nacci,Maria Rosaria Barillari,Camille Finck,Camille Finck,Sven Saussez,Lee M. Akst,Robert T. Sataloff +12 more
TL;DR: To summarise current knowledge about the prevalence, aetiology and management of recalcitrant laryngopharyngeal reflux patients, those who do not respond to anti‐reflux medical treatment are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
High level of galectin-1 expression is a negative prognostic predictor of recurrence in laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas
Sven Saussez,Christine Decaestecker,Francois Lorfevre,Diana-Raluca Cucu,Goeffrey Mortuaire,Dominique Chevalier,Agnes Wacreniez,Herbert Kaltner,Sabine André,Gérard Toubeau,Isabelle Camby,Hans-Joachim Gabius,Robert Kiss +12 more
TL;DR: The quantitative determination of galectin-1 in LSCCs is an independent prognostic marker when opposed to TNM staging and has the potential to identify patients unlikely to benefit from T-cell-mediated immunotherapy, although the definitive effector function from its pro and antitumoral activity profile has not been delineated.
Journal ArticleDOI
HPV Involvement in the Tumor Microenvironment and Immune Treatment in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinomas.
Jerome R. Lechien,Jerome R. Lechien,Géraldine Descamps,Imelda Seminerio,Sonia Furgiuele,Didier Dequanter,Francois Mouawad,Cécile Badoual,Fabrice Journe,Fabrice Journe,Sven Saussez +10 more
TL;DR: A review of the current knowledge about the impact of HPV infection on the immune response in the context of HNSCC focuses on the innate immune system, particularly highlighting the role of macrophages, Langerhans and myeloid cells, and on the adaptative immune system.
