Journal ArticleDOI

Optical detection of radio waves through a nanomechanical transducer

TL;DR: In this article, a room-temperature nanomechanical transducer that couples efficiently to both radio waves and light allows radio-frequency signals to be detected as an optical phase shift with quantum-limited sensitivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical cavity cooling of mechanical modes of a semiconductor nanomembrane

TL;DR: In this article, a novel mechanism for cooling nanomechanical objects has been demonstrated, where an Optically excited electron-hole pairs produce a mechanical stress that damps the motion of a gallium arsenide membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Q optomechanical GaAs nanomembranes

TL;DR: In this paper, suspended single-crystal GaAs nanomembranes exhibit mechanical Q-factors exceeding 2'×'106 at room temperature, which makes them a very promising platform for optomechanics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Graphene on silicon nitride for optoelectromechanical micromembrane resonators

TL;DR: In this article, a single layer of graphene was added to SiN micrombranes and compared with bare dielectric membranes and to membranes metallized with an aluminium layer, and the electrostatic coupling of graphene coated membranes was found to be equal to a perfectly conductive membrane.
